| It is cheap journalism at it's worst.
Two very talented young players, who should be given every encouragement. What Simms seems to miss was that Myler played at 7 and Sam Tomkins at 6.
Wouldn't it have been better for him to praise them both and say that we could have seen the future England / GB halfback partnership.
Someone earlier in the thread asked if Sam would look as good in a struggling Salford side. I'll tell you,the answer is a big YES. He's the most naturally gifted player I've seen since Shaun Edwards. I've watched him all through his academy days and he is a superb player with a great attitude.

Not for long mate, we have an amazing ability to knock the talent out of young players ... or ship them elsewhere.

| Club official boosting the confidence of a young player, while the club face plenty of flak. Hang him!
Steve Simms knows far more than any of us know about RL. I'd trust his opinion over anyone else on an internet forum.

Agree about Tomkins , great prospect as is Myler, however Pat Richards looked like a World Beater against our defence Friday so maybe Myler had ' more to do' to get past Wigan's' .
All we need know is a team to support him

Agreed theres no problem saying that Myler was great cos he was. However to knock a player whose played only his 3rd start for the first team and wasnt even playing the same position as Myler is pointless.
And wth was tht saying his tries were both from loose balls. His first he dropped the shoulder and backed his pace to beat the fullback.

I came across this post in the evening news, if everyones seen it sorry but i was wondering, they brought the guys over from abroad, trained them pre-season in america, in the nice warm weather, then bring them back here to crap weather, shouldn't they have trained them in england so that they would be acclimatised to English weather

SALFORD football director Steve Simms has hit back at criticism from fans over the club's overseas signings.
Australians Ray Cashmere, Luke Swain and Mark Henry along with New Zealander Jeremy Smith have come under fire but Simms insists they will come good.
"Good players simply don't wake up in the morning and become bad ones," he said.
"We are struggling as a team right now and we don't have a magic wand but these players we have brought in will come good, believe me.'

Hands up who has faith in someone like Steve Simms to bring over players to transform Salford into a decent side?
Not me, I cant understand how someone like Simms, has earned a crust for as long as I can remember in the UK, when talented coaches like Sean Edwards, Ellery Hanley and co cant get a gig in either coaching or player recruitment.
