Just looked at our squad of 28
5 aged 19/20
12 aged 23/24
5 aged 25/26
3 aged 27/28
3 aged 30/31

gives an average age of23. Seeing how we kept the bulk of the squad from last season, And hopefully for future seasons, without wholesale changes, you would think we can get a close knit TEAM

Please explain what you mean by "any good"?
This is not trolling or a disparagement of your views: I would like to know what we would see as a good squad 's results for 2017. We need to face up to the fact, having escaped relegation by the closest of margins, we cannot assume that the other teams in SL are looking to emulate Salford. We have a lot to prove. (And, yes I know about the points deduction, to use the words of little Martin, that's so last year and let's stay on trend.)

If you look around the other forums on this and further RL sis, there is a great deal of beating of chests over the small reservoir of RL talent. We all would like to have a star-studded line-up with the other clubs envying us in the same way as they did in the mid 70's. THe issue is that several of those clubs also beat us in the mid 70's. I was there.

I think we will finish in the bottom four.I just hope we are good enough to finish at nine. I think Fred Done says eleven what do you say.

I guess we will see just how much influence Tim Sheens had. Arguably the squad is better than last season and therefore we should be looking at replicating our 2016 form.

I am pleased we have kept the bulk of players from last season, if ever proof was needed that the players cared you only need to go back to the last game of the season. I am also happy to see problems at other clubs for a change & more than happy that it has been extremely quiet with us having no drama to date.

Do I think we will be a top 8! no I don't, not because I don't rate the current squad, I don't think we have replaced Griffin & not sure we have quality to back up injuries throughout the season, however I am happy to be proved wrong.
Ian Watson for me deserves all the credit he gets, his actual record must as good as any recent coach, if not better, finally one positive I keep seeing is the squad looks like they are enjoying playing at the club & that is a massive plus.

I think SL is getting so much harder to predict. Who honestly would have expected Leeds and Huddersfield to finish where they did in 2016? I also didn't expect Widnes to start 2016 like a house on fire only to drop off. Wakefield were the surprise team this year and Hull had a great season compared with their usual underperforming standards. I wouldn't like to predict where Salford will finish because injuries and a winning spirit and momentum are so key. The other factor is how well will we perform without a respected figurehead like Tim Sheen's passing on his wisdom? We could finish anywhere from 5th to last depending on circumstances and I wouldn't raise an eyebrow. I think most clubs have key players to do well but it's all about how many they can keep on the field over the season.
