Simon Orange : Fri Jul 08, 2016 5:32 pm
Rumours from the Twiteratti states Simon Orange who's just bought Sale is interested in us if Marwan leaves. Interesting concept which could see us ans Sale share staff such as marketting executives which in Sale's cause is a lot better. Interesting times ahead..

Couldn't think of anything worse, we'd definitely be re-branded under a Manchester based partnership with them at some point, the Salford name would be completely wiped

I concur with your prophecy because I cannot see any other reason for buying the club: running a RU club has obvious business advantages whereas a RL club has far fewer links to national or international firms. Consolidating the teams at the AJ Bell would make business sense.

Can't see it. He runs a private equity firm which bought Sale debt free and just about breaking even, can't imagine his investors would be pleased about buying a club in debt and not likely to make a profit anytime soon

asset stripping/hostile takeover would be my guess if he bought the club, making Sale the only professional rugby club in Manchester

But why would they bother doing that, what would they gain?

Re: Simon Orange : Thu Jul 14, 2016 12:07 pm
Access to players/coaching staff from the academy as well as the first team. Sole occupancy of the stadium (especially if he could settle any outstanding debts to the council as part of winding up the club) and it branding/naming rights going forward. Bragging rights that RU was the only professional rugby code in Manchester.

If the boot was on the other foot, I would do it to Sale ;-)
