Ex Salford Red Devils Chief Executive who left the club towards the end of last season after two successive years of unspectacular attendances, poor player recruitment and retention and two underwhelming seasons for the club in Super League has now been accused of using email addresses from the club for use in his new job at Swinton Lions. As of yet these are just accusations and cant be proven, nor can it be confirmed what has happened is illegal. Several Red Devils fans have raised concerns on social media of having received emails from Swinton and Martin Vickers despite having never handed over any details or signed up for updates from the club. He posts on numerous boards trying to stir up trouble! It is alleged by many that Mario the same person who used to be the RL writer for the MEM. Personally, I don't think that is true! Mario can construct proper paragraphs, use words of 2 syllabus or more, indeed write comment; all of which Neil Barker was unable to do! Allegedly Neil was sacked by the MEN, took a job at Leigh and has attempted to spin their signing of R Chase as a masterstroke! Also allegedly Mario deems his new role is to post the random gossip he may have used to put in the MEM on every forum he can find. Allegedly!

Something very dodgy about Vickers, poor appointment to begin with given his history with the council. The club are well rid, although not sure taking email addresses to a new job is a crime

Pretty sure its a Criminal Offence under Section 55 of The Data Protection Act if its proven he took the data without consent of his previous employer.

Actually, it is a breach of the Data Protection Act which could lead to him being sacked and a hefty fine for Swinton

Really. So how does that affect the DVLA who regularly pass on personal details to third parties without permission? Secondly how you think this can impact on Swinton is beyond me as surely if you are correct with your assumption then the perpetrator would need to be an employee of the club, wouldn't he/she?

They can't legally. unless the data they are sharing is done so for purposes exempt under the DPA - prevention/detection of crime for instance.
