Tommy Lee will be out for at least 8 weeks. If we truly are putting youth first we should be letting Wilkinson have a chance to cement his place. But as we all know this is Salford and i wouldn't be suprised to see Phil Joeseph have a go.

Thats a blow Tommy on the sidelines for that length of period. You can't just throw Wilkinson into the mixer either he's got to be chomping at the bit. Sheens will know when he's ready for the challenge to which i don't think its anytime now. I'd be looking at a loan spell again however don't sign that friggin Wagga again please we'd be down to twelve men and playing against fourteen with his presence. Theres a decent hooker playing in Cumbria his name escapes me but i'd be looking at him as a loanee to relieve Tomkins a break. But to be honest Hooker is a position where players have to know all the plays etc... which can take a couple of weeks to master so its a double edged sword but with Lee out for Eight weeks it might be worth a punt. If the young Wilkinson was ready for his blooding then it'd be the best and perfect option for us. But it looks very unlikely. Shame Liam Hood was flung out the door. Sods Law.

I'm really surprised that we let him go in all honesty. I thought he looked good when he came on as an impact player last season.

Wilkinson has played a few games at Crusaders this year and is more than capable for stepping up to the plate. Bringing a loanee wouldn't do the younger players confidence any good.

That will be a blow if Tommy lee is out for up to 8 weeks! I also liked the look of young Wilkinson in the friendly at Rochdale but I would be surprised if he is ready to play at super league level.
Like many of the posters I was sad to see hood go, I though he had lots of potential last year. We also failed to act when we had injuries to key players last season, hope we act a bit quicker to fill the void he will leave.
