Bring back the biff. In the good old bad old days. The ref would have said "right you've both had a go apiece now get on with the game". Discipline, it's killing the game.
However it's good to see Bailey on the receiving end.
^^^^^^^ This
I'll admit I detest Bailey but prejudices aside, having Sky plussed the game and watching it later, thought Jamie Peacock answered the question perfectly about a justified sending off, when he did a mint Arsene Wenger impression. You don't get the "get on with the game" anymore so should have been 10 mins apiece end of story.
Why do you consider him to be of a similar ilk to Newton? It can't be that they have a similar disciplinary record because, and here is why the OP has a valid point, because Bailey has never received a red card and only ever received 1 yellow card.
So, why do you reach the judgment you have done?
You see, there are other front rowers with a much worse record than Baileys. Look at how universally respected Morley is in comparison to Bailey yet Bailey has a much cleaner disciplinary record. So what gives?
Considering the consensus of (misguided) opinion from everyone but a proportion of Leeds fans and Leeds 1st team coaches is that he's not a good player there isn't another player in the entire league that gets as much bandwidth devoted to him on here as Bailey.
I know why, the OP knows why. I don't expect any of you to agree or admit it but it's flagrant. It's OK for white boys like Sculthorpe, Morley, MCDermott etc to act like enforcers in the game but when some uppety swarthy lad tries it that just won't wash with the majority of white supporters on RL Fans.
The difference between Bailey and Morley is that Morley would go toe-to-toe with anyone. Morley isn't a cheapshot merchant, and he doesn't go hiding. Morley has built a career out of being a hard man and is widely respected, both in England and Australia
Bailey is a coward. He knew exactly what he was doing when he started swinging the elbow and deserved the smacking he got. Then to wait on the floor until enough players got between him and Radford was laughable.
How Bailey has the clean disciplinary record he does beggars belief. There's not been 1 Leeds game on TV this season where he hasn't pulled at least a couple of niggling sh1thouse stunts. That said, he's not on his own at Leeds. Ablett, JJB, Senior, and now Delaney are all of a similar mindset.
Morley has made a couple of 'cheap' shots in his career. The worst by far was his knee to the groin of a player in the NRL in his last season. Have a look at that, then come back on and try to defend him for that action, and find me something, anywhere, that Bailey has done that's even close.
Some of Morley's head high tackles whilst not necessarily malicious in intent have been expectionally dangerous as well. Don't get me wrong, I like Morley a lot, but don't try to defend his record. He got suspended a lot in Australia for a reason.
I have no idea if people are racist about Bailey, but the mass hysteria about him on here is completely ridiculous. If any other player but Bailey had been involved in that incident with Radford I suspect there'd have been no mention of his use of elbows, and a lot of ire directed at Radford's 'cowardly' assault on a player on the ground.

Right here we go again, The difference being Morley will do it to anyone, Bailey will only do it to Wingers and half backs or when someone is not looking. That's why nobody likes Bailey!!, why he's getting so much defence from Leeds fans is beyond me, after looking at his stats he is useless and lazy.
Bailey's actions may have been worthy of a penalty, but Radford's reaction was ridiculous. I'd have been happy with a yellow but accept a red.

I did find it funny to see Bailey stand up, almost sheepishly, before seeing half a dozen players restraining Radford and deciding to pretend he wanted a go back (and trying to crack Long, WTF was that about!?).
For all those whos asked what the reaction would have been if it was the other way round, well I remember how much the Leeds speccies complained when Paul Davidson got Morley sent of in a Sts v Leeds match a few years back in a similar fashion. I also remember how little the Saints fans cared about said complaints (some said it was the most effective thing he ever did for saints).
I can think of a few occasions he should have been (two in one match against you lot) but i don't recall him getting one. Had a quick peruse of google and couldn't find anyhting there either. There was a good article involving him (to use permissable language) having a wee wee on Barry Mac's hands while he was at Leeds.
Exactly - so using "Bailey has never been sent off" as a defence against him being dirty is a bit weak, since Newton never was either from what I can remember and he most certainly was dirty.
It eventually caught up with Newton, it will with Bailey too. The way he has decided to play the game has probably already done him out of ever playing for England again, so I suppose he's got his punishment in one respect.
Lots of potential but decided that playing the niggly faux hard man was the way to go, and he's a much poorer player for it. Unfortunately most Leeds fans think the way he plays is great, so he has no motivation to ever be anything other than a pantomime villain rather than a decent prop forward.

You don't remeber Bailey putting Morley on his ar#se at Headinelgy the other year? perhaps your a new fan? What about Fausavalu? is he a half back aswell?
IIRC Bailey's only sinbinning in a game was after a real toe to toe brawl with Julien O'Neil @ Widnes (the forward not the half back), he's about 7 foot BTW.
Every player in our squad could probably earn more money with another club. But they prefer to sacrifice a few extra quid in their back pocket to share special memories. And playing at a place like Old Trafford on a night like this makes it all worthwhile.

:-)
You really think Baileys game is moulded to suit the fans reaction?
Wouldn't a more sane rationale be that is his playing exactly the way every Leeds coach that has has coached us for the last seven or 8 seasons has asked him to do? If that has made him "poorer" it certainly hasn't stopped his selection year after year and conrtact renewals year after year. And he's done this in a pretty decent side to boot, one that has contested 3CC Finals and 5 GFs in that time span.
Motivated by what the fans think of him. Priceless.

No I don't think his game is moulded to suit the fans reaction, but whilst he is hero worshipped more for niggling than making yards (whether asked to do so by the coach as you imply or otherwise), I doubt he'll think too much about his glaring deficiencies.
You think he's fulfilled his potential, I think he could have been so much more. That's fine.
