The Wigan fan appears to be under the misapprehension that criteria for a quality stadium is new and shiny rather than fit for purpose - Headingley will have more cash spent on it in due course but it comfortably exceeds all minimum standards and has the best corporate areas in the league - as a facility it is outstanding and generates huge amounts of cash - naff couldn't be further from the truth.

And did anyone mention that the RL club actually owns and benefits from it?

I thought that too, although I'm led to believe it can be expanded to 10k relatively quickly and cheaply depending on either clubs successes.

Great news for the two York teams. Despite the squeals of pain from the self-interested in the city, common sense has prevailed. I look forward to visiting it in due course.

This is only the beginning regarding the stadium in York. While obviously it's great news and a major milestone today, I'm sure Wheels and the rest of the knights will like to get on board with the city fans to ensure the design and features of the ground are there to suit both sets of fans. The design at the moment isn't the final one (plus we hope to bump up the capacity a bit as well) so we'll all hopefully look at coming together to deliver a great stadium.

I'm just happy to move the athletics track mate, anything else is a bonus...

But with all the NHS, education and new community sports facilities alongside the new stadium, PLUS a brand new purpose built athletics club at the University, its great news all round!

At Monks Cross. I would imagine it will be either on or close to the present stadium.
