Well looking at the people jobs have been given to they have had relevant experience of working before going back to Leeds too. It is not as if they dropped out of playing and straight into it. They have gone away learned some skills in a couple of roles and then Gary has invited them back once they have got to grips with the administration side of the game. Peacock may not be a commercial genius, but what he will do is be targeting businesses and businessmen who will be Leeds fans. Who better than the cornerstone of a forward pack during the clubs most successful spell to feed potential sponsors what it is like to be involved with Leeds. No qualified commercial graduate will have the passion and drive for the club Peacock will have, nor are they ever likely to get it, it will be a paid job to them
But that’s the problem, Peacock will appeal to people who are ALREADY Leeds fans, that’s not a hard sell to attract them, will he be able to get ones that aren’t already fans? Dismissing any potential non ex-player as just being “a paid job” is also a poor argument as I think every club can point to members of staff who have never been players who have given great and passionate service to their roles.
Sinfield and Peacock did go away and do other roles....but for how long? Sinfield was at England for how long, a year? Peacock’s run and influence at HKR is very questionable. Neither showed in that time they were ready yet for a club that is the biggest in the competition.
