Deary me, do you ever have anything positive to say about rugby league ? It appears you are not satisfied depressing us on the Broncos board, your new bête noir is the RLWC ticket sales, can you give it a rest ?

Yep...it's a fantastic fast paced sport that knocks spots of all other football codes, is generally very family friendly and have great core values.

Sad to say that those days may well be numbered if things don't go well over the next few days.....If only someone or even a group of people had pointed out where the club was going wrong, then maybe the club wouldn't be homeless and potless.

Nothing new about it.......I said from the start that this RLWC should be looking to shift 500k tickets and I stand by that. The reluctance of the organisers to release anything other than cryptic clues befitting a Daily Telegraph crossword compiler points to nothing near their recently declared target number (500k) being hit. Various discount options (100 days/50 days etc) are appearing and working past the dates they were supposed to stop and even final tickets for 15 remain unsold.....

It's a discussion forum. For a discussion to take place, there needs to be differing opinions....like arseholes, we all have an opinion and mine is that if RLWC 2013 had surpassed the total ticket sales from 2008 we would have been told, which means they are at less than 60% sold.

Nobody wants the rlwc t fail jb but the lack of solid or tangible figures when reporting sales is a tad worrying. The RFL are not renowned for being quiet when it comes to perceived success, so their silence with a couple of weeks to go isn't inspiring confidence. No skin off my nose though.... Cleared the memory on the mysky box and fully intent to record/watch the lot.....getting excited like a kid at xmasxc

I don't know any other sport as obsessed with crowds as RL! I don't really care if there are 40k or 60k at Cardiff, I don't care if there are 8k or 10k at craven park. It is going to be an awesome tournament, I get to watch 14 of the games live and the rest recorded, I get to see national teams I rarely get to see and I hold on to a very faint hope that England can produce a miracle and win it, or at the very least see NZ stop Australia taking the cup. It's going to be brilliant, because I want it to be so. Suggest you stop fretting about things outside your control and enjoy what is to come.

Ps good effort rfl sounds like you finally have a marketing team!

It has been at the cornerstone of every post demanding the removal of London Broncos from SL since I can remember......but mention it for anything else and watch your back

Perception is everything....it's not about what you or I think of an empty top tier at Wembley, it's the perception the game gets during its brief moment in the FTA spotlight.

With you here (except for the England winning bit)........really getting excited now.

er, with tickets starting as cheap as £7.50 (or less with the discount codes) I would suspect that the "marketing" department are hardly deserving of a pat on the back.....but I am more than happy to be proven wrong.

Re: World Cup Ticket Sales : Wed Oct 02, 2013 11:53 pm
London's crowds are embarrassing, if only 5k turned up at Cardiff then it would be a fair comparison!

I've followed RL long enough to know a 75% or 100% full Wembley won't make any difference to how the game is perceived or the biases that exist against it.

They've priced the tickets at a level that they will sell. It's called market forces. From reading what the marketing team have posted, from seeing the quality of the website and thee news flashes and from feedback on here on what is happening in most places I would say, given their very ltd budget, they appear to be doing a good job.

I was called up yesterday and asked if I wanted to purchase a hospitality package for £49 for the opening ceremony. I was also sent details of packages for the other games I'm attending. Great to see the RFL being proactive in this.
