Why do you think fifita is at Wakefield?

But Fifita has already proven his commitment and his ability during his two and a bit years there. Money may be his main reason for being there, but if he performs as he has then that's irrelevant. Most players in the sport (or indeed any sport) are where they are because of money. It remains to be seen whether Merrin will show the commitment to the Leeds shirt that Fifita has shown to the Wakefield one.

Reduced interchanges will hurt the likes of Fifita, Huby and Pauli. So while the point stands that there are no guarantees concerning Leeds' imported forwards, neither are there any regarding the Wakey heavyweights' ability to cope with the rule changes.

I get the argument but I only partially agree as it works both ways. So long as the big men do the damage against smaller forwards when they are on then it should be to late. All the big minutes and grit won’t be enough on most occasion to reverse the damage.

Added to that if your expecting a smaller pack to battle like that every game then they will be burnt out by round ten. Merrin may be a perpetual motion kind of player but it needs to be in the framework of an entire team being the same - not sure Leeds are such a team.

Due to this he may well end up looking a bit ordinary as players who’s games are built on work rate often do when taken out of a system they are used to.

As for PP and big Dave both have limitations especially PP but both won us games on size and power alone last year and with the addition of Kopczak and King I only see it improving.

Whether it’s improved enough for us to move upwards only time will tell.

Fifita generally plays 55-60 minutes a game anyway. I get the argument but think Fifita is not a good example. It will definitely make coaches consider the use of impact players.

Well he has some ambition because he signed for Leeds, not Wakefield :)

Of course money will be a huge factor in him coming over no one is going to pretend otherwise. Doesn’t tell us how well he’ll go though.

Well apart from having no quota space available for him, why do you assume Wakefield would be interested in him with the likes of Fifita, England, Huby, Kopczak, Hirst, and King, not to mention Arona and Pauli all tried and tested in SL, it's your club what are desperate for new players not Wakefield, maybe that's why you felt the need to take a chance on him.

Some of you Wakefield fans really do need to lighten up. Not every little joke and bit of banter is a slight at your club.

You have a team to be proud of currently, one that everyone will be taking seriously. Don't be so bloody defensive all the time.

Yeah I’m sure if given the choice between signing Merrin or George King this offseason, Chester and every other SL coach would go for the latter

If Merrin signed for Wakefield he’d walked into the starting team but I bet you and a couple more will say he wouldn’t

Spot on. Anybody would think they haven’t been slagging off Leeds as desperate and Merrin as a fag end of his career, looking for a pension, no ambition Aussie who won’t stick it over here and go back home. Some of them can give it but not take it.

As I said earlier on in this thread if Merrin comes and plays anything as he has done, which I've no reason to believe he won't because he's not some sulky prima donna. He should be a huge asset to Leeds. He's not an eye-catching player but he's one of those that every team needs, very hardworking, big minutes, great defense and some decent meters. I said before if I could compare him to a player of ours it'd be Arona and that's a compliment because his performances never seem to drop below a 7/10. I personally hope he doesn't come here to take the proverbial and is here for the duration, don't need anymore pi$$takers in SL.
Tbh out of all the named NRL players that have joined for next season, Merrin would be the least of my worries of not performing or doing one back home.

I'm sure that given the option of signing Merrin or King he'd have gone for the Aussie, and I'm equally sure he'd have walked into the team, but our problem is , beside the lack of funds and I'll repeat myself again, we don't have a quota spot available to accommodate him so I'm not really sure what point your trying to make, but well done to leeebron for muddying the waters and getting us at it for absolutely nothing.

It's what Jebrone does, casts as many lines out as a can looking for bites, then he disappears till he chucks the next line in.
