Also will take more than one player to turn Leeds around.

Which is why we've signed a few. Even then, I think most recognise we won't be back at the top in 12 month.

It's funny because if we'd have signed him, it'd be a completely different story.

"I'm a Wakefield fan and don't like to see Leeds do well" Wow, no wonder Leeds fans bang on about our small club mentality when we have fans like you, I like to see Wakefield do well, must admit I do enjoy beating Cas/Leeds/Hudds when we play them but outside of that I could not care less how Leeds are doing tbh, why don`t you put your energy into actually supporting your own club rather than doing a Sir Kev/Jean special and spending all your time and effort on here hoping another club fail?

Thanks for your advice Homme Vaste but I'm going to ask you something, right now in front of everyone. Can you please, point out where in my post I said anything about wanting Leeds or other clubs to fail? My statement of "don't like to see Leeds do well" simply meant I don't like to see Leeds bring in a player of this stature and not Wakefield. Also before you start, that's not to say I'm not happy with our current squad.

What you sayin now den?

Danny Ward has been hard at work following the club’s famous Million Pound Game win, with Matty Fozard, Greg Richards, Nathan Mason and Jordan Abdull already through the doors.

But further recruitment and retention is expected, with their latest business likely to raise eyebrows across the competition

But London have plenty of cap space to play with and are set to benefit with a high-profile signing in the coming days.

Well that's where you're wrong (as usual). I wince when we are connected with big name Aussies though I accept that isn't often.

Our failure rate with big reputation players is huge - starting with Mark Graham in 1988 onwards. Only a handful have ever worked out and only Solomona really produced. No name reserve grade Aussies and Kiwi's on the other hand has see and endless seam of rough diamonds.

If Wakefield never sign and NRL GF/SOO Winner/International ever again I won't lose a moments sleep. Whilst we can create players like Johnstone, Batchelor and Crowther whilst digging up gems like Fifita, Miller and Hampshire to name but a few I really don't care. :SHHH:

I think he means more along the lines of fans reactions on here from the usual culprits, i.e. when Catalan signed Todd Carney and Jean was saying how they would win Superleague, then he said the same when they Signed David Mead, and then he said the same about Warrington when they signed Tyrone Roberts..

I stopped getting excited about new signings a few years back, and also stopped been disappointed with certain signings also. The fact is no matter what there pedigree is you don`t know 1. The attitude they have turned up with 2. How there fitness is (You can quite easily pass a medical with underlying issues) 3. Sometimes it either just doesn't work out or sometimes a signing finds a new lease of life at a new club.

Fair enough. Henry Paul deserves mention though: astonishingly good in the time he was with you.

This is not for one minute suggesting that Merrin will follow suit however if you take a look a players in the last few years that have joined Super League teams that would have definitely got first team action in the NRL (Based on talent) its quite astonishingly one sided in terms of being deemed a success or failure:

Tyrone Roberts - Fail
Kevin Locke - Fail
Ben Barba - Fail (Played well for 16 rounds, went off the boil when he could not be bothered and then decided to leave half way through his contract)
David Mead - Fail (Okay he is okay, but probably isnt even the best winger at Catalan)
Todd Carney - Fail

Can anyone think of any successes in the last 3 or 4 years? I am not talking about the usual overseas players that come over that are in and out of NRL first teams/deemed as squad players.

For once I agree with you. How many of the Marquee players brought over since the rule came into effect have seen out their contracts? If you are a club looking for stability, its a risk bringing over overseas players these days because usually within a season, they want to be back home

well after the tyrone roberts debacle (who clearly didn't want to be here and only signed with wire after trying his best to call gold coasts bluff) it's been very interesting to see Blake austin's off season journey, who came over as soon as the raiders finished with his missus and kids, did a couple of days in england (north west and london), then on to paris and then on to dubai. You get the impression he's all set and looking forward to moving up here and making the most of the opportunities, much like bryson goodwin did in terms of visiting europe.

He's arrived yesterday, jason clark arrived last week and they're ready to get bedded in for pre season. which is much better than someone turning up after xmas in the new year.

True but he wasn't actually a player with any reputation when he signed - he'd come over with the Junior Kiwis if I recall. He actually gained his reputation at Trinity which on those days was virtually unheard of.
