JESUS WEPT HOW MANY TIMES????? £20 a ticket and £15 on beer and merchandise.....so an away fan is worth £35. At best, 1,000 is the average away support split across 11 rounds and I am being really generous here, so Toronto, replacing say Wakefield will cost a SL club £35,000. The minimum turnover of a SL club is £4,000,000 so Toronto instead of Widnes is worth less than 1% of a SL clubs turnover.
There are many valid reasons for and against expansion into America, but "AWAY FANS" isn't one of them.
Comedy gold, an absolute classic novella when it comes to fiction, you miss including a shed load of vitally important stuff when it comes to the travelling and climate for Toronto and vice versa for a start off. Couldn't be bothered to read past the rest of what you wrote because it's totally lopsided, incomplete and inaccurate. You mentioned that most of the Toronto players spend weeks on end in the North, how is that acclimatising yourself to another country, do you know how long it takes for that to happen? As for travelling, the Toronto players DO travel more miles than all the rest, did you forget they travel between Toronto and UK several times a year whereas a team has to travel to toronto once. We already had the discussion way back when regarding players taking time off and the relative impact this has (not much because again it's ONCE a year), and again the time zone difference is a few hours for single event, this involves changing your sleep/eat habits for a few days before. It is NOT totally lopsided, the only thing lopsided here is your viewpoint and failure to grasp some basics relating to travel and acclimatisation.
Toronto Wolfpack have been based in Manchester since the start of pre-season. All of their away fixtures have been played in a row and now they are off to Toronto, where they will base themselves whilst their opposition will climb off a plane and be expected to play inside 48 hours.....that in itself is lopsided....even if they weren't based 5 hours and multiple time-zones away. Toronto want to pay in a euro comp, so they should be made to play the euro way, home and away an alternate weeks.....the school ground they found OK for Swinton should have been used for all their home games from March onwards......they should have been made to pay for Toulouse to travel to Toronto....nothing about their "leg up" is a fair and balanced offering......the clamour to get them into SL is vomit inducing.....and it will all end in tears because yet again it is badly thought out and a "quick fix" scenario.....the hope is that Argyle will be able to sell the game to more people with a 9 week run of home games and maybe not have to give so many away, but even then, they are not a sustainable economic entity.....their overheads next year will be huge......I'd say they'd need £6,000,000 to break even.......if not more. The SL clubs will not accept any more favours being done unless there is no chance of relegation......and what will Argyle do if his side are in the bottom 4 next year?

Thats a real positive attitude you got on display there....
You come back with answers like this when you're stuck... when you know you're wrong.
Like I said yesterday and Call me god has said - the idea for Toronto to have a SL side is not sustainable.
Just because you say it, does not make it so...time will tell...please observe us from the bleachers and we will show you how it is done....in this you and many of the others see an impassable mountain, full of pit falls and obstacles....to us it is simply a small mole hill easily conquered...WATCH US GO!
The thing is despite all the money spent, the squad is pretty mediocre... I'd say only 4/5 are SL standard.
What are you talking about?....we haven't even opened up the main till yet....we've been working from the 'petty cash' fund so far?.....haven't you figured it out yet...we are just getting started! Just getting started.

Per my other post, there's a salary cap, and that's a "finite" cap. You have to prove sustainable income (donations from backers don't count) to be able to spend up to that cap. You can buy your way through the Championship comps, but it gets so much harder in SL.
Just consider if there was no cap, and TW could recruit the best 17 players on the planet (Ok more than that, given the need for a squad). They'd win everything, but really, is that what sport is all about?
