Well Sheffield seemed to bring that attitude yesterday certainly. Aston sent off after 3 mins for his lovely effort on McNally (who'd already dropped the ball). 5 secs into this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trE3EeA8U0M

That wasn't even the one that put him in the Hospital, that one can be seen at about 5:10.

Sheffield 'supposedly' aren't a dirty side but they came out for a fight yesterday from minute one and carried on throughout. That is an attitude we've seen regularly this season and yet it is laughed off with "why do teams only do that when they play Leigh, must be Leighs fault!"

That's a nicely constructed straw-man argument. Well done.

As well as off the field where Derek Beaumont drags Paul Rowley away from taking umbrage with an official while medical staff deal with an injured Leigh player.

They obviously weren't happy with a red card for a one on one dangerous tackle where the Sheffield player was red carded.

A punched Sheffield player was yellow carded.

Another late tackle by a Sheffield player who had played 12 v 13 for over an hour without any other incident is put on report.

All dealt with by the referee and the Leigh fans have the gall to question the actions of another side after what they have been doing, and continue to do.

As trademarked by griff - UnbeLEIGHvable!

3rd yellow card in 2 games for Hock being wonderfully man-managed by Rowley.

You didn't go, and the evidence is for all to see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trE3EeA8U0M You set about McNally from the second minute when the high shot went unpunished. The spear was stupid and should get a long ban for Aston jnr. The late closeliner should see Smeaton miss the rest of the season, not seen one as bad as that since the 80's, then it all gets capped off with Hock getting binned with the Sheefield player for not retaliating when punched - classic

God is nothing more than an imaginary friend for grown ups.

Re: Discipline at Leigh : Mon Jun 22, 2015 9:57 pm
I've only read half of this thread, but there is one question I've not seen either raised or answered.

If Leigh are such thugs, why do the fights generally only start once they've taken the lead? Surely you'd expect that earlier in the game?

Thoughts please?

Being a bad winner can wind some teams up. Leigh may not start throwing punches but being a poor winner could get teams backs up.

How is education supposed to make me feel smarter? Besides, every time I learn something new, it pushes some old stuff out of my brain. Remember when I took that home winemaking course, and I forgot how to drive?

Hey i'm just trying to think of a reason why all of the discipline issues are not Leigh's fault. Maybe everyone else is right and Leigh are just a bunch of dirty barstewards.

No reserves, but resilience, persistence and determination are omnipotent.

'Course not.I got there and thought it was dress down day with Beaumont with his untucked shirt, jeans and the muffin look.

As I have just stated on the Sheffield Eagles forum - in as many words - it was a fundamental error to send out the youngest, lightest, player witth the most exemplary discipline record, and half back to injure McNally - and fail! Then wait until so late in the game, with the game lost,to have another player with an almost clean disciplinary record, and a centre,to try and fail to injure the opposition full back.I thought the second effort was exactly that - an effort to prevent the pass in an overlap situation at the end of an exhausting 12 v 13 game.

I should point out that when we played a superior side, from the Super League,in Hull FC,in the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup there was no drama and no cards and no injuries to any Hull FC players.

I also pointed out that in many circumstances the ball playing, match winning half back is taken out by opposition forwards.Ours was red carded and your half backs apparently not targeted by our smaller players.

When Hodgson, then playing for Warrington, got battered regularly their followers didn't invent stories about brutality. As he and McNally were both at Huddersfield prior to transferring, I wonder where the difference in attitude originated.
