Huge story from John Davidson
The Roosters knew Toronto withdrawing from SL 2 week ago throwing everything said since and especially today into blatant lies. Davidson is ploughing a lone furrow as it seems the other RL media are only reporting on fake positive spin with totalrl a disgrace. In particular. This must nail the failed franchise
It was way back in February when Argylle had his dream chance to buy in at Melbourne Storm. Any gentleman would surely look to transition from one club to another without doing what he did and pulling the plug on TWP half way through a season.
Especially causing distress to the players Looking at it now I don't believe Perez or Argyle were ever "expansionists".
YES your right TotalRL ran with it as did League Weekly forever trumpeting this new dawn. I would not mind but these RL publications surely had a duty to their largely traditional readership to be a bit more realistic, and report a bit more accurately rather than be a fanfare for a phoney club that would badly damage the game.
Sure Superleague rightly refused to put the red carpet out and refused the idea of taking in phoney clubs, but what they DID do was a deal with Rimmer that gave TWP entry to Superleague and that was a really strange and damaging thing to do. TWP never had an automatic right to promotion as a guest club but the reports were Rimmer conceded an end to the Middle eights and MPG in return for TWP's promotion.
Did Superleague think that they could just handle TWP by leaving them to struggle in bottom place then go back down again? Did Superleague not know Argyle was looking to go to melbourne? In letting them in it gave Argylle a chance for revenge by him pulling the plug half way through the season.
Was the lack of attention to the important issue of visas just an "oversight" did Argyle really "run out of money"I think not, Argyle got his revenge big time and has gone on to rub it in by suggesting he'll be back in February (a wordplay on the Terminator
). IMHO it wasn't a bad idea to let them in the game but it was a terrible mistake to let them in Superleague. Brian Carney on behalf of SKY is pretty scathing so you can bet the SKY bosses are as well. A naive and terrible mistake by Superleague............
