Intrigue? Widnes first game back in SL on the much maligned i-Pitch. I know I watched it however if the same game is on this year I probably won't. Likewise I watched Salford vs HKR last week because I was interested to see how Salford would fair against the first team they faced this year were they had a chance of competing and whether or not they were going to show some fighting-through-adversity (ala Bradford last year). Also as a Leeds fan I wanted to see how Griffin went as we had just loaned him to Salford. Would I have watched the same game last year? Not likely.

Wasn't the widnes wakey game the first on the I pitch? Maybe that attracted some viewers, seems strange to me though

It still seems to me that whilst neither method is perfect, a comparison of viewing figures makes more sense round-by-round than it does pair-by-pair; specifically, I'd expect to see the first version more strongly correlated with whatever the final figure is at the end of the season. ( The only 'right' answer is at the end of the year, but Smokey's wannabe-a-moderator BS notwithstanding, it seems OK to me to TALK about the figures so far).

I repeat the genuine question - does anyone know of anything that could account for that Leeds-Hull figure? Was something else big on the telly that night?

Debate all you want, talk about the figures all you want, just dont expect people to pretend you havent just said that you are ignoring a rise of 93k in viewing figures and focused on the figures which fit your agenda. To then completely contradict yourself in the very next post is also far too transparent. You are free to say whatever you want, just as i am free to call you on it when your mask slips

SL Round 5 attendances - comparison to same fixtures last year

Salford V London in 2013 = 2,333
Salford V London in 2012 = 5,250
Percentage drop in attendance = -55.56%

St Helens V Leeds in 2013 = 12,228
St Helens V Leeds in 2012 = 15,199
Percentage drop in attendance = -19.55%

23 out of 29 SL fixtures in 2013 have now registered a fall in attendance compared to the same fixtures between the same teams last year.

Haha that's the best case of head buried in sand ever........absolutely NO reason why the crowds were down for these games......NONE......the M62 was deserted tonight ........shame you only list reasons for the 2011 Hull/Wire game attendance and not all games, it's almost like you have an agenda

I'll save you the trouble......EVERY Salford game will be down this year.......shocking????.........No.....at least not to those of us with brains/or without agenda's

I blame the Highways Agency and their M62 plot keeping thousands upon thousands of Rhinos fans away from St Helens this evening.
