McGuire was involved in a little scrap. Both players were throwing punches. McGuire clearly came out second best.



Wardell wasn't involved in a little scrap. He decided to throw 5 punches without reply after being told by the ref to calm down.

so what your saying is Mcguire lashed out with an elbow and punches to something accidental and still got the penalty with no card being shown to him? for the 2nd week on the trot as well. Im not saying under the current rules Wardel shouldn't have been sent off, but so should Mcguire if your going to red card players for punching.

How do you know it was accudental knee to the head, or more to the point how did McGuire know he lashed out and there was a scuffle, maybe a sin bin for both players at worst. The wardal incident was totally different.

Yep if Wardel walked then so should Maguire.

The incidents just aren't comparable.

I just don't agree that the response of the victim (Ablett/Cudjoe) should be as important as it seems to be at the moment. No retaliation gives a red to the aggressor, retaliation varies from winning yourself a penalty to yellows each way.



Neither of McGuire or Wardle had any justification for throwing the punches.

Fair enough if he also took a knee to the head.



But to get up, square up to the opponent, be told by the ref to walk away and THEN throw punches while your opponent does nothing was completely different to what happened with McGuire.



You say say McGuire should have got a yellow and Wardle a red. What about Cudjoe? He beat the crap out of McGuire.

Possibly a yellow, but he was actually being attacked unlike McGuire and Wardle. He had a decent reason to defend himself.



Old news now, hopefully McGuire's punches are picked up properly in the match review, not much more to it really.

A fair bit of anti-McGuire bias on this thread, mainly from Wigan fans. Why not look at the positives of an excellent game with a decent crowd and atmosphere? some RL fans can't see beyond the end of their nose.

McGuire is scum and showed him self to be just that today, his performance playing rugby too was embarrassing.

Not quite as embarrassing as Tomkins' performance in last year's CC semi

Wardle looked a straight red... Seems that as a Wigan fan i can't comment on Maguire, but he has seemed a little y in the last couple of games i have watched.

Maguire was equally as guilty as Wardle, just because he cant throw a decent punch, shouldn't excuse the crime.

Agree with you re Wardle, it was a straight red. Not having a pop at Wigan fans in general, and yes Mcguire has seemed a bit y in the last few games, but his wasn't a sending off offence.

As a Giants fan Wardle deserved a red, also in his defence he didn't bloody miss did he





McGuire is a dirty who can accept he has never been as good as he though and now he has lost his pace his career is on the way over

What a cracking game that was! Was fully expecting this board to be full of praise for both teams but I should have known by now it'd be full of moaning.

I don't think it's as simple as saying if you throw a punch it's a red card. You have to take the whole incident in context. Under current rules Wardel was a red card. I don't think Maguires was however his consistent foul play over the past couple of games will soon put him on the same level as Bailey.



It's time to bring in a second referee to Marshall the rook. There is far too much foul play (that is from all teams not just today) that is unseen and ends up in players loosing their cool.



As for the game, what a great advert for RL. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Leeds were not at their best and made a lot of un forced errors. Credit to Hudds, they got stuck in and rattled Leeds from the start, deserved their win.

Great defence from huddersfield. Great composure too. Huddersfield should always play with 12. Crabtree is a monster big game player. I hope cudjoe can play like that consistently, if so him and watkins are exactly what we need in the england . Hope huddersfield can keep competing like that.

The most embarrassing thing today is this post. I can't quite comprehend the bitterness from some of the Wigan fans toward Leeds on these forums. Weird.
