Warrington led 16-2 in Saturday's Grand Final, but their joy was short-lived as Wigan roared back to win the Super League title and extend the Wire's 58-year wait to be champions

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done But he with a chuckle replied That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried. So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin On his face. If he worried he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn’t be done, and he did it!
Maybe the Stobart lorries really did work last year
When the Stobart deal was 1 st announced I suggested it was indeed a strange one , but that no conclusion could be drawn from it until 3/4 years down the line , and it wouldn't be an increase in attendances , but an increase in the geographical spread of SKY viewing , hopefully resulting in an increased SKY deal down the line
If you still want to bury your head in the sand and not accept you are wrong and believe the Wire game got around 4,000 more than these for a Friday night game shown on TV then so be it, we in the real world will realise that it didn't get 16,000+
Or perhaps because it was Hull's last home game of the season is why you think it's so high, lets compare against other recent last weekly round games at the KC.....
It was a game which determined who would finish top of the SL ladder and win the League Leaders Shield. A win for Warrington would be enough to secure it for them, hence why an extra several thousand of their fans made the trip over to Hull for the game... it was important to them.

Feel free to keep digging for all that "elusive evidence" of yours which proves that SL attendances and Sky viewing figures in 2013 are higher than they were in 2012 ..... or..... according to SmokeyTA's desperate straw man..... better than 2011 .

To avoid risking the wrath of Smokey, etc., I'll wait for their explanation of these figures. The first one is the strangest ( and most worrying ). At first glance these are catastrophic falls - what's the 'innocent' explanation?
Sure I'll pick up the ball and add some figures
5 of the televised games we've had in 2013 were also on TV in 2012
3 out of the 5 got a bigger viewing number
2013........2012 Saints vs Hudds = 168,000....81,000 (+87,000) Wire vs Catalan = 216,000......151,000 (+65,000) Bradford vs Cas'ford = 126,000......lower than 88,000 (it was shown on SS1 yet didn't make the top 10 that week which had the tenth placed progamme at 88,000)......(+38,000 and more)
2 which got lower numbers Wigan vs Wire = 206,000.....295,000 (-89,000) Leeds vs Hull = 188,000......196,000 (-8,000)
So for those 5 compariable games, at least 93,000 more (probably even more depending on Bra/Cas 2012) watched the same games in 2013.
Always happy to add proper context to proceedings.
Thanks. First up I hope we can continue to discuss the viewing figures without (someone) leaping to the conclusion that the discussion is solely about an agenda or vendetta. That would be cool.
Until I saw these, I would have assumed that the profile of the actual teams playing would have made a big difference. But that first figure stands out as in contradiction to that. For that reason, it would seem that the round by round comparison is a better indicator of how the year will pan out than match by match.
On that basis, these early numbers are frightening...however, they remain early numbers, and there may be other explanations for such sparse data, in particular, what else was on the telly?

The Hull FC v Warrington attendance in 2011 was 16,121.
There was a large travelling support for Warrington (as has been said they needed to win to finish top). Also at the time Hull had a voucher exchange scheme whereby season ticket holders could swap unused vouchers for an extra match day ticket. We were also on the back of three big wins, racking up 148 points.
Reading those links even Warrington fans say they estimate the Wire following at 2,500-3,000. That would mean that over 13,000 Hull fans turned up for a game which was effectively 'meaningless' to them as they were already guaranteed a playoff spot and it was on TV. Considering around 10,500 is the usual number for this game on a weekend night on TV then Hull would've had to have an extra 4,000 fans to what usually attend this fixture....'UNLIKELY' springs to mind.
Although that was the one that confirmed it, the game which really decided the outcome of the LLS was the previous week against Wigan at home......was their an extra high attendance for that game????
2012 = 13,859 2011 = 13,024 2010 = 13,024
No, yet you want to believe that this army of somewhere near 6,000 Wire fans travelled over to Hull on a Friday night to see the Hubcap (which most ppl don't take overly too serious) being confirmed, but didn't see an increase in the crucial Wigan home game.......ok then

Yet they couldn't sell out the Halliwell Jones the week before for the Wigan game? ok then .
Any extra fans for Wire could be offset by the fact that Hull were already guaranteed a playoff spot and it was on tv. Warrington may have taken an extra few hundred, maybe even A thousand.........but not several thousand on a Friday night just for the hubcap.

Digging? Bit rich for a man who just provided links to SIX different websites, including searching ALL THE WAY back to September 2011 on BOTH the Hull and Wire boards for the threads you linked to The scrambling you've done since I've proved your attendance numbers wrong and also provided more compariable figures for the TV games has been a joy to watch and laugh at........the word 'desperation' has never been more fitting than for you
And Sky viewing figures ARE higher in 2013 for the 5 same games that were shown in 2012......it's a fact.......but you don't like facts, you prefer agendas..........which is probably for the best because your 'facts' have a habit of being wrong

You did well to keep it up for so long, but that is far far too obvious. Your mask has slipped. You have let yourself down. At least a 93k increase in viewing figures is worrying. Nobody is going to believe that type of commitment to find the negative is sincere.

Are you sure the attendance was 16,121?
The reason I ask is that certain people with an agenda appear to have discovered a new method of determining attendances which doesn't fit the criteria for positive news ONLY and which is basically as follows...
1. Round up all heretics and gather for the grand inquisition. 1. Ignore officially announced attendances like 16,121 by the Hull FC club itself. 2. Place complete trust in the BBC website as supreme arbiter on correct attendance. 3. Gather info on previous total attendances for the same fixture. 4. Count the number of legs on those in total attendance and then divide by 3. 5. Indulge in further exercises of self-flagellation.
And SL attendances in 2013 still remain down by over 8% compared to the same SL fixtures in 2012 and over 5% down on the same fixtures in 2011. It is to be hoped that attendances for this weekend's round of SL fixtures show a marked improvement on the previous rounds.
Although that was the one that confirmed it, the game which really decided the outcome of the LLS was the previous week against Wigan at home......was their an extra high attendance for that game????

I think that 13,024 was the capacity of the HJ stadium in 2010 & 2011, so there wasn't much chance of an increase in attendance, no matter how many more people would have liked to go.
