Wigan do it for all their games via ticketmaster so I agree. Just a raft of dots coloured grey if the seats sold and green if not.

That needs to happen next time IMO. I think it may well not have been used this time as the World Cup team didn't want a constant debate about how many have been sold (although we've had that anyway).

Good point, it would have caused more harm than good.

Wembleys ticket system doesn't do that that's why.

We can be bold enough to make a stand and do battle for our views and beliefs. But we must strive to be mature enough not to resort to unnecessary personal attacks upon people with opposing views.

Re: World Cup Ticket Sales : Wed Nov 20, 2013 10:50 pm
Whilst you may be able to get 10 tickets in a section that is sold out. If 90% of that section has been sold, I can see the point in saying it's sold out.

Why concentrate sections until they are 100% sold out.

If they will look busy enough for TV, then put them as sold out and open up another section.

We are obsessed by numbers, but few people on Saturday will be watching the numbers in attendance. They will be watching the rugby and listening to the atmosphere.

Whilst I'm dead against giving away free tickets. I would have seen nothing wrong in this week leading up to the semis, about competitions for tickets. I'm not sure how much extra publicity it would give us or how many extra tickets it would have sold, but with at least 10,000 tickets going spare, what would have been the harm in giving a couple of hundred tickets as prizes across commercial radio stations etc.

A bit more coverage and hey maybe would get a few more purchases.

It's not a give away in the normal sense as people have to enter the competition to win.

I'm still happy with the total as it stands, but it would do no harm to try a few other gimmicks that cost no more than a few tickets that are going spare anyway.

The RLWC organisers need to get their act together here now regarding the Semi's at Wembley. Just out of curiosity I went onto the site and looked at the tickets of the remaining blocks; you cannot get more than 4 tickets together in any of the £20 areas (not sure about the blue areas); and in one of the blocks no more than 2 together and in one there are just single seats available.

Surely the organisers must realise that even if they are only 80% full the blocks, it would look better on tv to get further blocks opened, and it gives the customer more options. Imagine if you were a family of 5 or if you were going with friends, then you can't currently buy tickets together which may be offputting.

I wouldn't worry about it looking empty at 70-75k as they will use those massive RLWC banners over the stands which will probably cover 5000 seats on the top tier anyway. Get it to about 75k and distribute the remaining tickets over various other blocks and on tv it will look practically full.

I just feel that the lack of options for fans may make people decide not to purchase.

Youre missing the point. I saw the decent sections were all SOLD OUT and thought i'm not sitting in the gods i will watch it on TV. Only when i looked further did i find the tickets i wanted on half way yet it was SOLD OUT. How many other people will be put off by the SOLD OUT sections and not wanting to sit in the gods? In this day and age of technology i find it remarkable the RFL are using a system that resembles something from early 1990 ecommerce software.

What evidence do you have that they are not opening new blocks if they are available?

Its not the RFL's system, it it is a third party offering cobbling together the booking systems at all the stadia used, having some experience in this area what they have done is pretty damn good.

Re: World Cup Ticket Sales : Thu Nov 21, 2013 1:19 am
i never said they weren't opening more blocks, but at the minute it doesn't look like it. They need to be offering multiple price ranges (unless all of a certain band are sold out), they need to have enough blocks open to give customers a choice (some people like being behind the sticks, some along the pitch etc).

If blocks have been open then they need to make sure the pictures are up-to-date and not still showing greyed out; a lot of people will simply load the page, see this and go away without hovering over 'Sold Out' or 'Greyed Out' blocks to see if there are spare seats.

The whole site should of be done similar to when booking tickets on Manchester United's website. This shows each block with dots for every seat; when plenty of seats are together then the block as a whole is green, when you cannot get more than 2 together and/or singular seats then it turns amber, when nothing remains it turns red. The seats are greyed out when bought and shows the exact location of the remaining ones.
