Well, Australians always brag that they can put out two or three teams capable of beating England. Italy will be virtually an Australian 2nd team and Tonga and PNG will have substantial numbers of NRL players so we will have to wait and see. I can see Italy winning their group for instance and getting a favourable quarter final draw.

With the exception of England and France the remaining 12 teams will have more than a liberal sprinkling of NRL stars representing.......but that's a different thread entirely.

The last Wales squad had not a single NRL player in it.. won't be much different in the World Cup. Strangely they will soon be catching up to the Wales soccer squad in terms of percent of Welsh born players in the squad;-)

On the London local tv news programme, a lady from the RFL stated that 50% of tickets had been sold to date

Good question. I'm pretty sure it was to the whole event, as it stuck in my mind that from the last figure we heard it had gone up by 50000 tickets sold.
