What I would like to know is if they go into superleague were are the 20+ quality players going to come from to replace these existing average players.
It's a problem for whichever side goes up really. The player pool for the whole sport just isn't big enough. Which is why we keep seeing the same players turning out in these middle 8 fixtures, just in different team colours each year.
That doesn't my question though were are these players coming from. If like in the premiership they don't get them they will go back down again.
By recruiting them. You try and make out like they should or need to get 20+ players by the time of their first SL season when that never happens in any sport. If they can get several in first season and build from there year on year.
I think the O.P. is being a little presumptuous regarding Widnes's demise.
Sure they should've beaten London & were easily second best against Salford, but I still think they're capable of beating Toronto, Toulouse & Halifax, which would put them in the mix for the M.P.G. (Shudder)

We will see. I predict that either Toronto or Toulouse, perhaps both, will beat Widnes.

Yep got to agree, tough to see them winning both (or even one) of those as they’re both away and Widnes are 0-12 away from home this year with an average score around 13-31
JESUS WEPT HOW MANY TIMES????? £20 a ticket and £15 on beer and merchandise.....so an away fan is worth £35. At best, 1,000 is the average away support split across 11 rounds and I am being really generous here, so Toronto, replacing say Wakefield will cost a SL club £35,000. The minimum turnover of a SL club is £4,000,000 so Toronto instead of Widnes is worth less than 1% of a SL clubs turnover.
There are many valid reasons for and against expansion into America, but "AWAY FANS" isn't one of them.
Literally everything you just said is wrong, almost impressive really
What utter drivel.......Toronto are nowt more than a bunch of average RL players with the same pedigree as Fax, Fev or HKR.......
I am happy to be corrected, but they lost to Fev as well as HKR & London and were pushed hard by Halifax....they were trounced by a top end SL side in the cup.....
they are the RFL's version of Melbourne Storm having been given every assistance available.....
Blocks of games is 100% an advantage to them. They based themselves a stones throw from their "away" games, had the cost of flying Toulouse to Toronto removed by being "invited to the Magic Weekend and then hosted part time sides fresh of the plane with a 24hr turnaround whilst they themselves were happily based in Canada full time with no travel or jet lag.....as someone who recently landed after 36hrs travelling, I can assure you even the short hop to Canada takes 72 hours to get over.....
they offer nothing to the gme other than a different home for has been players and £1.8 million of sky cash
Name a "star" at Toronto....and am I wrong that they will be taking the central funding next season should they go up?
....and as for the announced gate last night.......there weren't 4k there last night!
There were never 3,500 or so fans hiding from the cameras.....both stands were over half empty and the beer tents had no queues....7,500 would mean 1,700 empty seats......you really need to get yourself to specsavers.
To answer the OP......toronto will most likely go up.....and then you'll see exactly what the emperor is wearing!
Let's see shall we......TV deals and sponsors are what we were promised, as well as Hamilton, Boston, NYC and Florida.....

lose one against a championship side, you have a chance of the MPG, lose two it looks certain relegation, only hope now is they got to leeds and get a win, with leeds defensive frailties it may just be last chance saloon
