Unusual to have a thread of such ilk. Did we congratulate Saints & Leeds over the last gawd knows how many years? I guess it's the refreshing nature of having a club outside of the big two finishing top.

This play offs are just a money grabbing exercise.

In fact under the current system only Hunslet are classed as a champion side and the rest are irrelevant until a knock out system arrives.

If there was scenario where all the teams didn't play each other home and away I can see the relevance to a point but the teams do so a knock out tournament is an add on to give no hopers and their followers a chance to fork out yet again.

And yes the Cougars have benefitted twice from these ridiculous scenarios but it still dosn't make it right in my eyes.

Could you imagine them doing it in Premier Mo & Rons Ball game!!!

You know play-offs are used in most other sports besides football?

Yeah because most sports don't have a league system in which they play all the other teams home and away.

Too many artificial games (played some teams 4 times, some 3 times, others only twice?) to be deemed fair and accurate award - hence a playoff being justified.

Congrats to Wigan, the minor premiership in my eyes is still a trophy and although we all know they'd trade it for the Grand Final its still a trophy.

Probably because Wigan fans have been desperate for recognition of their success all season, from constantly barracking those who have made even the smallest criticism of Wigan to Odemwingie's embarrassing threads on other team's boards.

Congratulations Wigan. Deserved to finish top of the course of the season. I'm sure you will agree the hubcap will mean nowt if you don't get it done in the playoffs. FWIW I think it's as open as it's ever been going into the playoffs with Wigan's 1st seeding probably giving them the advantage at this stage.
