Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity

Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

I would still prefer Sheffield to Doncaster, because it is a bigger city, has a lot of prestige associated with its size, and is potentially more likely to be able to find more rich sponsors.

Doncaster on the other hand is on major train and bus routes, and has a stadium almost ready for Super League, and a new board that seems keen to progress. Of course the club will have to perform on the pitch as well, and at the moment Sheffield is doing much better there than Doncaster. Early days yet. Rest assured both Doncaster and Sheffield are not going to get the nod for Super League in the same year.

Either club getting promoted, along with Toulouse, will be an improvement over the current west Yorkshire small town club saturation, if its ascension to Super League is at the expense of a weak west Yorkshire club, especially Wakefield.

I won't worry Albert, because I know how busy he is.

But I will pass on to him the good news that you are resting assured.

I wish Donny the best of luck intheir SL ambitions but TBH looking at them early this year in the Championship 2010 will be spent trying to get back in the championship from C1 I would imagine.

To be fair....we've only played twice (as opposed to most teams three) and would certainly not been classed as favourites going into Barrow away or Leigh at home (which we got the bonus point in)

In the NRC before that we got three wins from 4 and had 9 points, which would have been easilly enough for us to go through in the other group.

So while I do not necessarilly disagree with you, that is not the story results on paper so far suggest

Maybe Jemmo, one thing for sure though the league will be tough yourselves and sheffeild have both took bonus points from Leigh, Sheff also pushed Widnes close, Toulouse will be hard to beat on their own patch, obviously with their exemption Its hard for me to look further than yourselves and Gateshead for the drop, as a Barrow lad I am completley discounting us from the relegation scrap :D

I agree with you in all those respects, and do think we're favourites for the drop...but just think that;'s not what the first 2 games necessarilly suggest (and there's plenty of time yet)

But I mentioned before, the stability this development can bring is a lot more important to me at the moment than anything else

NRL expansion? Sometime soon, maybe......

Would a Sth Yorkshire named team work playing 75% in Doncaster and 25% of games in Sheffield?

I don't see either individually having a big enough RL fanbase or corporate support to survive stand alone.

Is it right that only teams who have contested a grand final can apply for 2012, or have I just made that up? :|

A grand final or a northern rail cup final which Doncaster were in last year. As the decision regarding franchising *cough* sorry licenses are made mid 2011 season the results from 2008,2009 and 2010 will count towards eligibility. So Donny are eligible already, I think :?:
