£15 for seating tickets for tonight's game, that category still hasn't sold out...too pricey?

The new young dynasty of super saints is coming to a ground near you.

Good attendance too.

Middle section on the side stands a bit sparse because they were the £70 per ticket seats.

As was the east stand standing...that was £25 per ticket?

East stand is nearly always sparse, the west stand looked fairly full. Thought the attendance was reasonable for an overpriced mid week game

£25 isn't bad for watching some of the world's best players, you can pay more than that to watch some of the dross served up week after week in super league.

"Brian McDermott, with a wry smile, nods when asked if he remembers a specific incident which made him realise he was a prick. 'I do', he murmurs."

Re: The World Cup : Wed Oct 19, 2022 11:45 am
£25 seats being "sold out" last night when there were plenty empty has put the RLWC team back on the defensive again. Not everyone wants to or can stand, and we know from anecdotal evidence that people were put off by their non-availability.

I get totally that we couldn't have another World Cup with the sort of discounting there was in 2013. But the banks of empty seats facing the camera because they want £70 for games not involving England, Aus or NZ is doing huge damage to the tournament's image. It's a downward spiral - if the early games look like nobody cares then it isn't prompting people at home to invest in going to the later games. Either Dutton and his team don't understand Rugby League fans and its market enough to know this or they don't care, either way it strongly suggests incompetence.

Empty stadia and pricing fans out of attending in what was supposed to be a legacy event for English Rugby League is a huge tragedy. I can't understand what they were thinking with what they have done here - and the even sadder thing is that anyone who understands the game knew it when some of these price brackets were announced.

The only reason they look up to you is because they chose to kneel.

I don’t think it would annoy everyone.

The earlier you buy tickets the better the seat you get .

The later you buy tickets then you are likely to get the worst seats. Only at the end do you offer a cheaper price to sellout but that way you will be up in the rafters so anyone waiting to get a cheaper ticket will be getting a worse view.

If I want to see a game or even the theatre I look at what I can afford and then the best seat available. I think most people do that.

I would not resent someone getting a cheaper seat than me knowing they are up with the bats , with a restricted view or have to climb 12 flights of stairs to get there.

Even if they have paid cheaper I would feel pleased that it has become a great event with a better atmosphere which is what you get in a full stadium.

For me it is simple it is about growing the game . If you resent someone getting a a £10 cheaper ticket than yourself it is pretty petty minded knowing it is for the benefit of RL which will have a marked benefit to your club.

It would annoy the vast majority. You only have to look at other events. WWE ran their first big event here for 30 years and people were excited, but it got a tonne of bad press because they opened with ridiculously expensive tickets and priced loads of people out. Then when they realised they weren't gonna be selling out at those prices, they slashed the ticket prices and vexed everybody off even more, even having to offer people that bought early the chance to make new orders. Me personally, I bought 3 tickets first and got really annoyed about it, and ended up being allowed to make an order for the same price as my original... Got 8 seats in the same bracket for the same price as my 3 original. Not a great look is it, and Twitter talked about nothing else and the event didn't sell out, for an event where 150k people signed up for a notification when tickets went on sale. It will now likely effect the attendance for any future events they run, as it left a bad taste in the mouth.
It's been a pretty similar story with the Harry Styles tickets recently. Ticketmaster call it "dynamic pricing" and it's gotten bad enough to the point that BBC have been doing pieces on it.

Definitely don't think that's the answer when RL desperately needs some good will and not pissing off more people. They should have just found a middle ground between mass discounts and premium pricing. I don't think it's that hard.

Whilst prices are a bit high for some games, we also need to remember that even in super League, crowds are down, challenge cup and grand final doesn't sell out anymore, even the last internationals in 2018 didn't sell out, there were only 17k in hull for England v kiwis at the kcom. Given we haven't had international rugby league for 4 years in the UK. Given this apathy for fans turning out, cost of living, plus the fact that we haven't had international rugby league in the UK for four years, you're basically trying to sell a new product to new audiences, I'm not surprised the crowds are a bit down.

I believe there is an enquiry going on about the £25 tickets being shown as ‘sold out’ forcing fans to cough up the higher £40 tickets. Those so called “sold out’ tickets would have been in the Saints East Stand as well, the World Cup organisers and ticket master will have some explaining to do further down the track.

It’s not rocket science to understand that the stand facing the cameras should be priced up to sell out quickly and fans pay £25 to £40. So what do the organisers do in reality, price a lot of the north stand at £70 so that it is empty directly opposite the cameras.

Jon Dutton has put a post up on twitter saying it was due to the TV studio originally going there, but then they decided that they weren't needed, but didn't go back on sale and should have. Another corner wasn't full too, so not sure if this excuse washes or not
