Toulouse for Championship in 2017, Super League in 2021!

Avignon for Championship in 2021, Super League in 2022!

How depressing!

It does not augur well for the third tier games. I would have hoped for over 10,000 for it to be considered remotely successful.

It seems as if most people are only going to the opener, the semis, final, and the games New Zealand, Fiji and France are playing.

France is certainly pulling its weight in this competition's promotion --- much moreso than, say, Cumbria. Which is why we need Toulouse in Super League ASAP.

I agree, I would gladly take 10K for the Thormond Park game.

Overall, from what we've heard so far, the good news is that this seems to be the only game not to have pulled its weight fairly.

How well are the two games in France going?

New Zealand vs France at Avignon has sold out (17,500) unless 2,500 extra seats can be installed.

I don't know about France vs Samoa at Perpignan.

If that's the case its been a bit of a slip up, an Aus-Ireland game would have sold more in London

Indeed it would, I really hoped the RFL would have seen sense on this one and played it at somewhere like Loftus Road or one of the other non Premier League football grounds, they would have got 10-12,000 easily! I can sort of understand the idea of taking a game to Ireland but Limerick? Not only is it a union stronghold last time I was there wasn't much of an expat Aussie community there! I don't think they thought this one through!

Around 7k sold at Perpignan. It has been selling much more quickly since the Avignon sell out, so expect a five figure crowd.

Says on here that some fans have been 'upgraded' from the cheap seats to the posh seats for tomorrow. I assume that's to fill in some gaps to make it look better.

http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/other-sport/rugby-league/welsh-fans-expected-flock-rugby-6240090

another positive article though, until you get to the RU idiot's comment at the bottom...it seems that the 'flatcapper' mentality isn't just exclusive to RL or the North.
