Coach travel is one way of trying to boost the attendance. But I think there has to be some control on expenditure.
Lets say the RFL funded 3 coaches from every club, that's only about 1500 people so it's not going to have a huge impact on the attendance. They can't pay out for a huge amount of coaches as they will be left with a huge bill and empty seats if they are not filled, then we would be calling the RFL fit to burn for incompetency.
Firstly it's not an official figure, secondly lets not forget that people have had expectations raised by others non-announcements.
I too was expecting about 50k, but then maybe I assumed some where more knowledgeable about the figures.
There is still time, but walk ups at such a distance will be few and far between.
It's a catch 22. They got money for hosting a game at Cardiff so they can't ignore it, the only 2 other games that could have been hosted are the final and the semi's.
WOuld Wembley have sold more for the opener??? who knows? I'd still hope for 50k but it will be a tough sell as the rest of the games seem to be doing quite well.
