Wigan are giving him the best chance of rehabilitation by sending him for a residential stay at the Sporting Chance clinic. It might not work, but it’s the best chance he’s got. Unfortunately he’s in the bracket of those who it is most difficult to rehabilitate - an alcoholic under the age of 30.
Poor form for Wigan to insult his previous clubs. He was the model professional at Cas until his ban. There were no signs of any problems over his nine months at the club before his moment of madness.
Leeds gave him professional support when he was there when it was needed too.
It’s quite possible he’s become addicted to alcohol during his suspension as he hasn’t had the focus of professional RL and the need to be in training in a daily basis. Nor has he had the influence of other professional athletes, but has spent all his time with his “mates” from outside RL. Seems strange for Wigan to be throwing insults at Leeds and Cas when they’ve signed a player with well-known mental health issues who is only available because he’s been banned for taking class A after a drinking binge. What exactly were they expecting?
