In the brave new world of expansion and with the possibility of a further French side and Canadian side, plus London, surely, we should be talking to Sky and telling them of the benefits of broadcasting such a diverse and exciting competition. The would open the top draw, pull out the cheque book and ask "how much", if not, we are wasting our time in expanding the game ?? If, by having these clubs in the comp, there is no more "draw" than there is now, who has been kidding who ?
To listen to some people on here, it would be akin to bringing Christmas forward so, apart from the Turkeys, everyone's a winner.
IF we are to have a change in format, ultimately with the aim of accommodating Toronto and Toulouse, then, lets stop chuffing about and get them into the top flight. It's imperative that we find out whether the inclusion of Toronto is practical and beneficial to the sport before we start thinking any additional N. American clubs. They (Toronto) should be promoted and then protected from relegation for 2/3 seasons and lets see if it's a good idea. Personally, I'm still not convinced, although they should be applauded for their efforts in getting as far as they have in such a short space of time. However, until the "model" is proven, we know nothing and we need to know whether they (and others) would be viable in SL before getting too much further down the track. I really dont see the benefit in waiting another 1,2,3 seasons to find out whether it works.
You can’t protect one team from relegation, that’s just unfair. You have to protect all teams from relegation if you want to help one club develop.
Imagine Wigan or Leeds getting relegated even with finishing above Toronto...
That mean no promotion and relegation, end it, closed shop unless you show you’re a SL club worthy of adding to the competition.

My post was somewhat tongue in cheek. However, if the further expansion into France and into N.America aren't going to help the game as a whole, what is the point ? You would think that IF Toulouse could establish themselves as a SL side, it would help the French National side, which has gone backwards at a rate of knots since SL began. Toronto, expensive gimmick or, genuine attempt to spread RL into N. America ?
JESUS WEPT HOW MANY TIMES????? £20 a ticket and £15 on beer and merchandise.....so an away fan is worth £35. At best, 1,000 is the average away support split across 11 rounds and I am being really generous here, so Toronto, replacing say Wakefield will cost a SL club £35,000. The minimum turnover of a SL club is £4,000,000 so Toronto instead of Widnes is worth less than 1% of a SL clubs turnover.
There are many valid reasons for and against expansion into America, but "AWAY FANS" isn't one of them.
As a London fan...... Only if we finish in the top 3 or win the MPG thanks..... Otherwise we're fine as we are for now. We've been there and done that and I have loads of shirts to prove it, but without a new ownership model...... I don't see the point of going back to 3k gates and reliance on one man
Just to put it out there, it may well be that the MPG becomes irrelevant as there is every chance of a change to the league structure, which may well see SL expanded to 14 clubs, which will ensure the safety of Leeds and allow London, Tolouse and Toronto to replace Widnes. Tbf, this would give everyone the chance to see just what benefits there may be in having a North American side in SL as well as potentially boosting the game in France, which seems pretty sensible. I dont know how this may or may not affect Sky funding etc but, it would be the right thing for the game. THis could also ensure that Bradford and York make it into the Championship although, this would further infuriate the Leigh and Fev fans, who may think that their clubs have missed out.
Not at all , we weren't good enough to make the 4 , so don't deserve anything
