Completely agree. I clicked on the VT earlier and saw that the last five posts had all come from our mate 'Billy'. It is getting silly now and making me want to pack in visiting the website all together.

Some might look at this as being harsh but I think it's fair. When are the Rugby League going to stop persisting with this fantasy expansion. If it hasn't worked by now, it never will! It wouldn't be a problem if there weren't so many people stupid enough to keep replying.

Re: World Cup Ticket Sales : Sun Oct 20, 2013 5:46 pm
I've heard a few people mention that the England result may have a negative effect on ticket sales from northern RL fans. However, every cloud and all that. It does make it much easier to market the occasion to locals in Cardiff and surrounding areas over the next few days.

"Wales take on Italy - conquerors of England in last week's warm up etc." Just makes both games more interesting. We have no history of how a big occasion in Wales (involving Wales) will sell in the last week. I'm hoping there will be a big last minute uptake locally and I am sure plenty will still look to be travelling down.

I visited the Millennium Stadium website earlier and the World Cup game is the main feature. A few months ago I read an article saying that there are posters at the stadium and they are fully backing it. A few years earlier the writer enquired as to why there were no posters for a Challenge Cup game there and was told "because this is a RU stadium". Big improvements being made in many areas. When we heard confirmation that we would host the competition a few years ago, who would have imagined that entire stands in Neath and Rochdale would be selling out?

Another 2 blocks are now open at the KC, not ground breaking news...but a sign that the sales have picked up at least. I think how England play on Saturday will have a big impact on sales.

The mods think that obvious trolling and thread derailment by the same two posters on every single thread represents 'good discussion' apparently.

Last time I looked this thread was entitled "Re: World Cup Ticket Sales" and therefore, I would expect it to contain posts on the topic of World Cup Ticket Sales.
As upsetting as it may be for some precious souls, the fact is that the organisers have avoided announcing actual numbers like the plague and as such, "speculation" is only to be expected.
Given the noises from Knock-down-Nigel regarding the "bidding process" for 2017  it would appear that someone at Red Hall got a book on PR Spin for Christmas last year, but in reality, no amount of "30% of the red seats in the available orange section" type releases are going to cut the mustard. The agreed to the opening ceremony to only the 14th ever world championship held in Britain to be in Cardiff and all they had to do was sell 74,500 tickets to it.....they even made it a double header with the "host" nation, Wales featuring, as well as the #1 and #3 ranked teams on show. Italy, featuring the cream of unpicked Australian talent is just an added bonus.
We've heard 30, 40 or even 50,000 tickets have been sold, from amateur sleuths who examine greyed out areas on ticketing websites, but nothing from Ms Bolton et al.....

Hampden Park Glasgow will be rammed to the rafters next year for the commonwealth games opening ceremony and regardless of how "minor" we may think our sport is, there really is no excuse for Cardiff to have any empty seats. IMHO that is!

No doubt that the 360,000 or so people who attend the games will be regarded as a success and with some justification too, but in reality, 500k was the target and 500k should have been hit!

Only a handful of seats left in Avignon (looks less than 20). So hopefully sold out signs are going to be put up there tomorrow.

Hampden only has a capacity of 44,000 for the Commonwealth Games and has nowhere near the same attention of attendances at other events as there is for the RLWC.

Just saying like.

Stop replying FFS. Nobody is interested in reading these posts, nobody is interested in taking the thread off topic and having to read page after page of inane drivel just to find one or two constructive posts.
