NRL expansion? Sometime soon, maybe......

HKR's crowds this year so far are (2012 figure for corresponding fixtures)
Total = 73,833 (78,200) -6%
Not great but we are doing better than the SL avg drop! Hopefully having the North stand available next year will see this reversed, presuming Salford don't buy all our best players!

3 out of 5 SL fixtures this round have shown an increase in attendance compared to the same fixtures played last year.

With 2 fixtures remaining, Round 18 is threatening to become the first round since way back in Round 1 itself to register a total attendance which is an increase on last year. The 5 fixtures played this weekend so far have attracted an attendance of 41,672 which is a 2.20% increase on last years attendance for the same fixtures.

Have SL attendances this year finally turned the corner as a result of decent weather?

Can RL supporters therefore be classified as fair weather supporters?

Steady on. You'll have the ladies frothing!

UPDATE...
SL Round 18 attendances - comparison to same fixtures last year

St Helens V Bradford in 2013 = 11,385
St Helens V Bradford in 2012 = 13,025
% decrease = -12.59%

3 out of 6 SL fixtures this round have shown an increase in attendance compared to the same fixtures played last year.

With 1 fixture remaining, Round 18 is threatening to become the first round since way back in Round 1 itself to register a total attendance which is an increase on last year. The 6 fixtures played this weekend so far have attracted an attendance of 53,057 which is only a 1.38% decrease on last years total attendance for the same fixtures. An attendance at Salford tomorrow evening in excess of 3,123 is all that's required.

May the fair weather support continue!

During the current franchised, 14 club, top 8 play-off system SL era... the total attendances in SL to date remain the lowest we have ever witnessed. Neither the replacement of the poorly-supported Crusaders with the better-supported Widnes, or the establishment of 2 new stadia, or the re-establishment of heavily-discounted SL tickets have prevented 2013 SL attendances from being the worst on record so far.

SL Rounds 1 to 18 total attendances comparison (2009 to 2013)
SL 2013 - 1,040,122 from 117 fixtures plus 7 MAGIC fixtures.
SL 2012 - 1,173,049 from same 117 fixtures plus 7 MAGIC fixtures.
SL 2011 - 1,093,492 from same 117 fixtures plus 7 MAGIC fixtures **
SL 2010 - 1,066,315 from same 117 fixtures plus 7 MAGIC fixtures **
SL 2009 - 1,078,083 from same 117 fixtures plus 7 MAGIC fixtures **

SL 2013 % decrease in attendances
V SL 2012 = -11.33%
V SL 2011 = -4.88%
V SL 2010 = -2.46%
V SL 2009 = -3.52%

** except replace Widnes with Crusaders

Making ill-informed and unjustified judgements of how large a crowd was does not make your argument any more credible. I guessed at 2,000, as would anyone who is not a troll trying to paint a one-sided negative picture of everything in our game.
