We can be bold enough to make a stand and do battle for our views and beliefs. But we must strive to be mature enough not to resort to unnecessary personal attacks upon people with opposing views.

Re: World Cup Ticket Sales : Wed Oct 16, 2013 2:24 pm
Don't forget some of you are lucky, some of us can't ignore.

It's also nice to hear from those who were around to attend the 1995 fixtures, that actually freebies and discounts where also given back then.

I was only 15 at the time and so was not in a position to be buying tickets. But I thought it would be a bit strange for discounts and freebies to be a new thing. The only difference is that the internet was not there to publish it.

As for looking down on the season ticket generation. Well I'm not ancient by any means but season tickets have always existed as far as I can recall.

It does seem the more we sell the more upset William gets. Maybe we are just misunderstanding William, maybe he is all for this tournement.

To quote con-air...

"He's a font of misplaced rage. ... Now he's so angry moments of levity actually cause him pain; gives him headaches. Happiness, for that gentleman, hurts."

Thanks for the confirmation that you've paid for two tickets for two rlwc games at two separate events played on different days. That'll count as 2 towards the total attendance for the tournament then, despite the fact they were dirt cheap at half the price when you bought them.

Will you answer the question William?
If we gave people 2 tickets, one for each game, would that make it ok?
Why should RL separate the attendances when no-one else seems to do it?

And actually they weren't half price William.

Don't worry, I don't expect you to actually answer questions. It's much easier to just b!tch and whine isn't it?

Article in the guardian saying our aim is to get close to and hopefully beat the 41,000 crowd that attended the Wembley opener in 1995.

They have sales somewhere round the 35k mark.

Probably lower then I'd have thought in all honesty but not too shabby in truth.

Whatever happens, william eve will find a way to twist the stats and facts to fit his agenda.

He's already laid the groundwork because even if it smahes all previous world cups in all aspects...well it was discounted tickets because of sundry cheapskate super league supporters who won't pay for anything outside of their season ticket etc etc etc.

First BBC ad being shown between the local news and the One Show tonight according to Facebook, similar in style to the Challenge Cup Final ads

https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=iNgSa3BLssk

also says this will be shown during Match Of The Day, MOTD2 and Final Score amongst others.

Yeah that's correct.......until you add some perspective (as in potential audience in host nation(s))

RWC 2011 30,777 (4.2 million)FIFA 2010 49,670 (53 million) RLWC 2013 TBC (150 Million)
RWC 2007 47,150 (62 million) FIFA 2006 52,491 (80 million) RLWC 2008 16,331 (22 Million)
RWC 2003 38,282 (22 million) FIFA 2002 42,269 (180 million) RLWC 2000 8,541 (150 Million)

RLWC 2008 v RWC 2003 would be a fair comparison, as would FIFA 2006 and RWC 2007....

RWC 2011 v RLWC 2008 gives you even more perspective.....5 times the population, half the crowd average?

Manipulating stats is all well and good, but ultimately, it's how many people roll up to this RLWC that's under discussion at present.....the silence from the organisers could mean either they are delighted, or they are not......given RL's track record for announcing when figures of previous tournaments are passed, it is fair to suggest that the latter may be correct.

The stats you provided shows the flaw in the 'to do with host nation population' theory. The 2002 Football WC had over two and three times more 'target audience' that 2006 & 2010 had yet is the lowest attended out of those three.

Manipulating the stats really is all well and good :)

And I actually mentioned in my post how stats can be listed in a certain way to twist results and that was an example. To then complain that I hadn't shown the whole story kind of shows the point went flying over your head. Those stats must've really bugged you.....I'm sure if they showed tournament on tournament progress you and others would've loved adding that nail to the RL coffin.

And do different sporting events (that just so happen to be held in the same country) really truly show a "fairer comparison". Would people expect similar results if (the most recent Cricket WC in India, and next years football in Brazil) the host countries were switched for the two sports? A cricket WC in Brazil and a football WC in India or the football in Brazil and cricket in India.....big difference.

They've sold more than that; probably bad reporting from the journalist. The RLWC 13 team on facebook/Twitter a few weeks ago stated that only 10% of lower/mid-tier tickets were left meaning 37k had been sold. That doesn't take into account any Upper Tier seats sold. There will be 50k+ on 26 Oct 13.

Seems they are still a bit slow on updating the graphics.

I think a few people have communicated some errors. If they have sold 90% of a section, surely we should be looking to un-grey other areas.

Some area's are grey and still for sale...

I just tried a few permutations of 2 and 3 tickets in a couple of blocks and best was showing row 5. The view from those areas still looks pretty decent.

Ticketmaster have been bloody rubbish sorting out the ticket pages; I was informed 3wks ago they would update ALL game ticket pages but still haven't done so... The official line is they are trying to fill up all the available areas before opening up any new ones.

For what it's worth, Sally Bolton is supposedly discussing tickets sold in the Guardian tomorrow.
