If you like International RL go to a game or two and enjoy it, if you're not interested shut up and stop ruining it for the people that are actually looking forward to the World Cup.
And for the record, even RU fans said their last World Cup was garbage.
If someone had told me 12 months ago that the WC would have sold as many tickets as it has, has such competitive squads and fixtures and was in the public profile as much as it is i'd have been really happy.'"
Hear hear!!!
I am quite interested in this thread but only the bits that aren't to do with certain posters waving their willies around. So I recommend following the thread but ignoring any post from Gutterfax, William Eve and Smokey. It's brilliant: I get some good info and sensible comment but without the rumblings from people who are clearly suffering from oxygen starvation from being on their high horses for so long.
Just enjoy the prospects of the upcoming World Cup and stop trying to prove to yourselves how clever you are - the rest of us aren't interested.

What a night at Central park that was. 46-0 I think it finished.
The ground was packed.
Robinson got a couple, at least one of which was from a Goulding crossfield bomb which, at the time, felt like a cutting edge tactic.

| Don't forget some of you are lucky, some of us can't ignore.
It's also nice to hear from those who were around to attend the 1995 fixtures, that actually freebies and discounts where also given back then.
I was only 15 at the time and so was not in a position to be buying tickets. But I thought it would be a bit strange for discounts and freebies to be a new thing. The only difference is that the internet was not there to publish it.
As for looking down on the season ticket generation. Well I'm not ancient by any means but season tickets have always existed as far as I can recall.
It does seem the more we sell the more upset William gets. Maybe we are just misunderstanding William, maybe he is all for this tournement.
To quote con-air...
"He's a font of misplaced rage. ... Now he's so angry moments of levity actually cause him pain; gives him headaches. Happiness, for that gentleman, hurts."

Will you answer the question William?
If we gave people 2 tickets, one for each game, would that make it ok?
Why should RL separate the attendances when no-one else seems to do it?
And actually they weren't half price William.
Don't worry, I don't expect you to actually answer questions. It's much easier to just b!tch and whine isn't it?

They have sales somewhere round the 35k mark.
Probably lower then I'd have thought in all honesty but not too shabby in truth.

| Whatever happens, william eve will find a way to twist the stats and facts to fit his agenda.
He's already laid the groundwork because even if it smahes all previous world cups in all aspects...well it was discounted tickets because of sundry cheapskate super league supporters who won't pay for anything outside of their season ticket etc etc etc.

| Quote gutterfax="gutterfax"Yeah that's correct.......until you add some perspective (as in potential audience in host nation(s))
RWC 2011 30,777 (4.2 million)FIFA 2010 49,670 (53 million) RLWC 2013 TBC (150 Million)
RWC 2007 47,150 (62 million) FIFA 2006 52,491 (80 million) RLWC 2008 16,331 (22 Million)
RWC 2003 38,282 (22 million) FIFA 2002 42,269 (180 million) RLWC 2000 8,541 (150 Million)
RLWC 2008 v RWC 2003 would be a fair comparison, as would FIFA 2006 and RWC 2007....
RWC 2011 v RLWC 2008 gives you even more perspective.....5 times the population, half the crowd average?
Manipulating stats is all well and good, but ultimately, it's how many people roll up to this RLWC that's under discussion at present.....the silence from the organisers could mean either they are delighted, or they are not......given RL's track record for announcing when figures of previous tournaments are passed, it is fair to suggest that the latter may be correct.'"
The stats you provided shows the flaw in the 'to do with host nation population' theory. The 2002 Football WC had over two and three times more 'target audience' that 2006 & 2010 had yet is the lowest attended out of those three.
Manipulating the stats really is all well and good
And I actually mentioned in my post how stats can be listed in a certain way to twist results and that was an example. To then complain that I hadn't shown the whole story kind of shows the point went flying over your head. Those stats must've really bugged you.....I'm sure if they showed tournament on tournament progress you and others would've loved adding that nail to the RL coffin.
And do different sporting events (that just so happen to be held in the same country) really truly show a "fairer comparison". Would people expect similar results if (the most recent Cricket WC in India, and next years football in Brazil) the host countries were switched for the two sports? A cricket WC in Brazil and a football WC in India or the football in Brazil and cricket in India.....big difference.

They've sold more than that; probably bad reporting from the journalist. The RLWC 13 team on facebook/Twitter a few weeks ago stated that only 10% of lower/mid-tier tickets were left meaning 37k had been sold. That doesn't take into account any Upper Tier seats sold. There will be 50k+ on 26 Oct 13.

Seems they are still a bit slow on updating the graphics.
I think a few people have communicated some errors. If they have sold 90% of a section, surely we should be looking to un-grey other areas.

Ticketmaster have been bloody rubbish sorting out the ticket pages; I was informed 3wks ago they would update ALL game ticket pages but still haven't done so... The official line is they are trying to fill up all the available areas before opening up any new ones.
For what it's worth, Sally Bolton is supposedly discussing tickets sold in the Guardian tomorrow.

I don't question announced attendances....ever.
As for missing the point regarding attendances at RWC being down, I should have just pointed out that the reason that RWC 11 was down was because it was played in a country far away from pretty much all the other participating nations as possible bar 1, with a population half the size of London. I suspect that RWC15 may report an increase of close to 70% on that figure.....will you be as keen to compare then?

1. Attendances are keenly used to batter my club....when the shoe is on the other foot, it ain't so nice, is it?
2. If the IRB were running the RLWC13 I suspect it might turn slightly more coin than it will. I don't support Union, nor do I put down League, I just think one game is managed like an amateur oub side whilst the other is run like a pretty well oiled MINT!
3. The Frenchman is renowned for being a but nutty, but there is often an underlying truth to his ramblings....
which dovetails nicely into the fact that the vast majority of the posts by the 3 of us are 100% on the money.....which makes you uncomfortable, which is to be expected because the truth sometimes hurts.
That said, looking forward to this tournament with as much excitement as a fat kid at the pic'n'mix counter

| Attendances are used to bash London, but here attendances are being used to bash the RLWC, when it will be the best attended ever????
If we where only getting 100k or 200k, then sure use attendances to bash the RLWC.
But when we are looking at success in ticket sales, those sales are still bashed, which leads people to the logical conclusion that no matter the outcome, up down or the same, some posters will always find an axe to grind.

Hey, I was the first person to count the potential attendance for the comp when the venues were announced was about 550k. I said then that anything less than 100% capacity would be a worry given the pricing and the wave of the Olympics....I was shouted down about the Olympic wave, but whatcha know, Ms Bolton agreed that 500k was the target. Last official update was 40% of available tickets had been sold......don't blame me for getting frustrated about the lack on info coming from the organisers. It's quite simple really, the RFL don't like naysayers like me "speculating" but they do like sheep speculating based on greyed out areas on ticketing websites
If they had shifted more than 2008's total, Fat Nigel would not be able to contain himself...he's increasingly marginalised at the moment.
When it's good news, the games governing bodies happily announce actual factual figures.....there have been none. We've had % statements and "lots of partners better than big sponsors".....

The axe I grind is the inconsistencies of those running the game. We will get 350k+ at this tournament and it will make money........this in turn will secure fat Nigel and his cronies a job for life where in reality, this competition could have been bigger and more profitable.
as I say, fat kid at Pic'n'Mix levels of excitement here for the tournament but buckets and buckets of scepticism as to the lasting legacy for the sport in the UK.

| The trial for the world cup will begin in november after it has finished.
Until then people can gather their arguments and evidence which will be presented on here after the final has been played.
The RFL & The RLIF vs Wlliam Eve. The trial will last for 2 weeks with the findings and evidence presented on here at which point a grand jury of william eve's peers will decide whether he's guilty of a malicious smear campaign against the 2013 world cup.
The prosecution will seek the death penalty if found guilty.

The real worry is where the profits have been generated and if they are sustainable moving forward. I doubt the profits Knock Down Nigel refers to are from ticketing or major sponsorship, so that leaves corporate investment like Cardiff paying to host the opener and revenue from Media sales, together with little revenue streams from small "partner" companies.....and Lottery Funding.
If William is found guilty, the carrying out of the sentence will have to be delayed until the detailed accounts of the competition are published.
