Your job is to say to yourself on a job interview does the hiring manager likes me or not. If you aren't a particular manager's cup of tea, you haven't failed -- you've dodged a bullet.

Unless Huby can totally forgive and forget the issue with Ferres then unfortunately for Hudds Ferres has to move on. And let's face it it's highly unlikely and completely understandable that Huby won't get along with Ferres.

It's not fair on Huddersfield really, but just one of those things. It's one of those situations where Huddersfield deserve a decent transfer fee but unfortunately probably won't get one.

Leeds' team spirit is good because they are winning - team spirit would not be half as good if they hadn't had the success they have had over the golden generation.

Given the troubles that certain Leeds players have got into in recent years you can hardly say the club is a shining example where ethics come to mind either.

Leeds had a stroke of luck when so many quality youngsters came together all at the same time and the club has built on that platform and it should be applauded for such - but to put the club out as a bastion of moral fortitude is taking it a bit far.

Why would a Leeds fan be so keen to undermine the culture that has been created at Leeds - maybe you're bitter because once again they proved your annual doom and gloom predictions wrong and frankly made you look a bit of a t!t.

Whilst I know Leeds have had individuals who have made mistakes, the strength of the team culture simply cannot be questioned..... And whilst players have made mistakes, there's not really been anything that would break the bond between the group, any issues have been external and the group/club have looked after the individual and tried to make them better people for it (Bailey and Hardaker are good examples of this).

Having said all that, I still don't think that means Leeds wouldn't or shouldn't be in for Ferres. As low as the act is, it's a personal issue and it's a one off (as far as we know). We don't now the full circumstances, and Mrs Huby is equally as guilty - it's not like the players wives from whichever club he moves to are going to find Ferres irresistible and quickly jump into bed with him at the earliest opportunity. If the Leeds team were happy to welcome him into the fold (which providing there's no close friends of Huby, in sure they would), then Leeds would no doubt be interested.

What came first, the chicken or the egg? What came first, the winning or the team spirit? In 2011 and 2012 they fought back from dodgy league seasons that included quite a few bad losses to find ways to win.

And I don't think HIM ever claimed things were perfect, no doubt we know their has been up and downs and testing moments but they find a way to overcome them and that's what a team spirit is about.

Team spirit comes from winning - it creates belief, I don't see many losing sides with great team spirit - I wonder why that is?

I agree with your second point but that comes from a belief system borne out of previous experience. Whilst they did turn things around in 2011 & 2012 the same didn't happen in 2013 & 2014 - so much for team spirit eh?

Leeds is by far the best run club in SL - but it doesn't always get things right.

Of course winning helps. But the club took a deliberate decision to encourage the right team spirit and ethic at all opportunities. Including which people would be at the club which people wouldn't. As an example the recent departures of Paul McShane, Liam Hood and Robbie Ward are examples of this policy.
Note - I did not say ethics. I said ethic, as in the team having the right attitude and ethic in the context of a team. Meaning you don't place yourself above the team and you work for it, not just for yourself.
Its why players like Ian Kirke were still at Leeds and getting a game regularly.
If this policy hadn't been adhered to I'm convinced we wouldn't have won as much as we have.

Now all this isn't an attack on Ferres. I don't know him, I don't know what he's like as a person or as a member of a team. But he's done something that could seriously affect his team. So that club has a decision to make, does Ferres individual quality make up for the huge negative effect he'll have on the team.
Personally I don't think it does. Or that anyone is good enough to make that up. Hence Carney's move from Castleford. So for me, Hudds HAVE to get rid in some fashion, like Cas.

That doesn't mean Ferres takes that negative effect on the team with him wherever he goes. It'd be up to his new club to decide what, if any, negative effect he does bring.

Leeds have definitely built a culture.

Headed by Kevin Sinfield but definitely backed up by Jamie Peacock.
If anyone watches Leeds A M l also believe that Jamie Jones-Buchanan has also bought into that culture and promotes it impressively in the tv programme.

Was massively impressed with how they handled problems associated with Zak Hardaker and how he could upset the culture they had built up.

He seemed to get the message and has since been recognised with the Man of Steel award.

I have the ultimate respect for what coach Brian McDermott has created.

I am not. Leeds fan so have taken a lot of pleasure from the Boxing Day result of Leeds 6 v Wakefield 14.

I think Brian Smith understands the club culture because Wakefield played as a team and a passion that was sadly lacking last year.

Some good points - however Leeds did put up with Ryan Bailey's antics for years - which is hard to understand given the desire to drive the correct culture?

I don't think leeds are any different to any other clubs really they've had problems with players the thing they have had is a very good team that they managed to keep together for a decade with adding the odd good player every year no major overhaul of the team

In 2013 and 2014 seasons were nothing like the previous two seasons in that they hadn't spent most of the year struggling to make the 8, they were well in the mix throughout so they don't really have no relevance in your "only because they were winning" theory.

Sal Paradise wrote:

And if any of the posters claimed that Leeds did then you'd have a point....but they haven't claimed Leeds ALWAY get it right so you're just trying to pick holes against the club for no reason apart from it being your default setting.
