Funny isn't it this transformation regarding Wakefields cap situation, I've even read one of the more sane Cas fans on the nutjob forum playing this card.
About 18 month ago nobody questioned that we were 450k under the cap because everyone claimed we were an average team made up of cast off's and journeymen punching above their weight or similar patronising crap.
Now these same players are not the above but are now seen as quality players who's value has rocketed and pushed us up to or even beyond the cap according to some.
So lets get this straight, the addition of Pauli Pauli, Horo, Hampshire and Randell (and even disregarding those who have left) and adding in a few juniors given a pay rise this has somehow cost us 450k - seriously!
Wow we are over paying our new recruits if that's the case - problem is posters on here want it both ways where Wakey are concerned.
So what is it, did we get lucky and sign relative unknowns who somehow came good or did we somehow convince a load top players to join us for peanuts only to over pay them the following year?
At the rate Wakefield are going, unless there is an improvement in crowds or we win some trophies it will eventually catch up with us as young players values begin to rise - that's the nature of the game - but to suggest we are there right now is simply not true - some of our better players are still on the low salaries they joined on, when we can't retain them anymore then we know we will have reached our limits - which IMO is still lower than the cap.
