Conner as good as he is has been a utility and not yet nailed down a specific position, Gaskell has been playing full back, Powell is a hooker, I’m not 100% but I thought Danny Walker was a hooker too, O’Brian is a full back, Livett I thought played primarily back row, Tomkins & Ratchford are full backs.

Apart from Connor who only needed 30 minutes to take us from 12-0 down to comfortably in charge against NZ you mean?

The question with Connor is where is he most useful to the team? Centre, stand off, or as an impact utility player off the bench? That will depend on who else he picks.

Also, on the subject of Hastings. I think I would rather wait and see how he performs against opposition who aren't utterly terrible before I decide to give him an England shirt.

If you are going to choose Hastings after ripping up the qualifiers, then by that logic Craig Hall would be the first name on the team sheet.

Give over, Widdop isn't a world class HB but he is a world class FB and as for Hastings, are you having a laugh?

Widdop has played HB for St George ever since he signed for them, his switch to FB was to accommodate the England team, that is what we do in all of our national (sports) teams we accommodate rather than trusting a player to play to their strengths. Widdop is a very good HB with decent levels of composure and discipline.

He started out as a FB and then played HB - however IMO he looks far better at FB than HB at international level - due mainly IMO to an international HB requiring different qualities to a club HB. Just my belief.
