In a way they are. York is one of the few RL areas that could get you access to a different audience, one that more sponsors would be willing to market to. If they could get a stable financial base to build from I think there’s a lot of potential in York. Football is still more popular, but there’s not the die-hard link to it that there is many other cities. There’s a gap in the sporting market in York.

A bit of an echo here, but what have Toronto actually done for the game in the UK? From where I'm looking absolutely zip, but I'm happy to be educated. Remember, the question is what have Toronto done to help the game in the UK.

If they actually last for 50 years this may change, but that was the crux of my earlier post. How long will they last.

How many League one clubs in 2017 and Championship clubs in 2018 got their seasons best attendance when Toronto Wolfpack visited? Almost all of them. There has never been as much interest in those competitions and it’s thanks to Toronto.

But will there be the same interest in 2, 5, 10, 20, 100 years? They're a novelty at the moment, which just turns into an untenable away fixture after a couple of years.

Newcastle got more than 1,000 for the visit of York last year compared to Toronto.....Workington's biggest gate in 2017 wasn't the Toronto game, nor was Whitehavens......This year Keighley got double the crowd for the visit of Bradford that Toronto drew 12 months prior....whilst Bradford also delivered twice the crowd at York that Toronto managed....Newcastle got 4 times the gate this year v Bradford that Toronto drew.....

A non financial TV deal on a station watched by Union fans in asia, a contra deal with an airline and giving away thousands of match tickets and running a beer festival and now crowds are smaller in the 2nd tier than the third..yeah, they're pulling up trees all right
