I LOVE this types of threads.

Let’s sprinkle some glitter on the game and it will rake in MILLIONS…

Someone above suggesting we TRICK fans into watching the game in hope they enjoy it. Yes sure that will work they won’t realise they are watching rugby league and will fall in love….

Re brands and mergers… just because you re brand it liverpool surely means ALL of liverpool will turn up. I mean that’s the only reason they aren’t going at the moment because the name ‘st Helens’ puts them off …..

Do us Bradford, Wakefield, Huddersfield fans go support Leeds when are teams are thrown to the side?

Salary cap holds the game back

Sponsors/investors don't wanna invest in a sport with a limited income

International game is what needs to improve look at cricket and yawnion their club crowds are poor really

12 teams no one cares about Salford v Wakefield in a 2,000 battle

Go to 10 teams and get a better international game

All these teams have proved they average 5k+ none of the 2k crap

FC
Saints
Leeds
Wigan
Warrington
Catalan
Cas
Rovers
Bradford
Toronto

Getting rid of Toronto is why the game is on its death bed...the only team who can bring headlines and proper investors and potential global worldwide growth were thrown out for a 3k minnow outside of Wigan

Toronto got 7k in league 1 not a single SL team would average 7k in league 1

We don't need a rebrand but a 10 year plan to

1 increase teams in super League to 16

2 reduce clubs reliance on TV money

4 negotiate a better deal with sky or sell fixtures in packages to multiple broadcasters

5 significantly increase or scrap the cap.

6 strip back the rules, stop the interpretations and overcomplicating of rules.

Bradford were only relevant between 1997 and 2004 so all the other years, Bradford residents supported Leeds

I mean Bradford were super league winners in 2005 but ok.

Im sure if you looked at attendance figures you would see how untrue your statement was but I see you’ve already earned a reputation on here. I’m sure you disappear and a new name will pop up soon enough.

This is the classic thinking though. In line with ‘let’s merge wakey and Cas together and double the crowd… im sure both set of fans will still turn up regardless’. Just doesn’t work my friend. Like it or not most fans support their team rather than the wider game. A similar story for chairman. The problem is the chairman run the game so it’s a game of protect what you’ve got now.

Best post yet.
We've got the "product" and we've got the clubs already in place (OK, some not in the rudest of health atm). We need a plan that's focussed on making what we've already got work and flourish not some half baked idea that consign half our clubs to the bin.

Re: Plan to revive game in 2022 : Mon Jul 26, 2021 9:54 pm
The game needs to strengthen at home before doing anything else. We have 12 sides who currently average 8,500 attendances...we need to figure out how to get that to 15k, which in some cases will mean sold out games and events becoming hard to get to.
Badging a team "Liverpool" and hoping that works is just another "magic fairy dust' idea that the game is often so reliant on. Magic weekend is the only thing we've stuck with and it makes money for the SL/RFL.....everything else is chopped and changed and never given time to bed down.
Before we start dropping pins in far off exotic places like "that there London", sort out Wakefield, Leigh, Salford and Huddersfield...get HKR and Castleford over the 10k average....get Wigan, Leeds and Saints filling their stadiums and then and only then, look at expansion.
Toronto was doomed from the start because it was built on Sand.....Newcastle are doing it right, as London started to eventually do to, but let's get the fans back to games in the pit villages first......find out why the 13,000-17,000 Leeds fans won't jump on a bus to Watch their side play Wakefield. Find out why the good folk of Wakefield aren't interested in watching THEIR side.....sort that out and the Sponsors and TV companies will take note!
