So, sorry, I know we have enough posts on this sort of topic, but...

Watching the Catalans Salford game, the commentary is just tragic, as it always is when they're in the studio back in the UK. They have no idea what is going on and seem to be just pointing out things that the viewers could have worked out 5 minutes ago. It makes it almost unwatchable.

The tired attempts to create a sense of place are very cringeworthy.

Bill: 'Louis Anderson loves it down here in the South of France.'

Jon: 'Very difficult to play down here in these conditions.'

You are right, this is just another moan. Surely it would be more constructive to suggest what you would like to see done instead?

For the record, I can see where you are coming from, however I do not mind it what so ever. I treat it as a nice bonus.

I say this with the greatest respect to those guys, but can Sky seriously not find anyone better?

They should take a serious look at how other sports do commentary, particularly good examples include football, boxing and the NFL, where they combine a seasoned broadcaster (note, doesnt have to be an expert in rugby league, i.e. Nick Halling is a prime example) with an eloquent, former great who can talk without mixing up every other word. I feel the former greats might be difficult - Sam Tomkins aside most RL players talk like they are embarassed to be on TV - 'yeah yknow the boys did good yknow...' - its painful and only helps to double down on the 'thick egg chasing northerners' stereotype.

You'd think Sky could afford to rustle up some Ryanair flights for them! Or look to get some France based English speakers to do the commentary.

It is pretty poor but at least the games are on. If it's this or nowt I know what I prefer.

Anybody else getting fed up of Eddie acting suprised when a senior player drops a ball or makes a mistake and saying that it's not like them at all?

is it an euphemism for him and the accidental movements in his trousers? most senior people have little mishaps every now and again
