I'd look at players who put their hands up with Welsh heritage that want to play for the shirt and the Welsh shirt only. That rules out Carvell and Halley and I'm glad to see the back of those turncoats to be honest. Can anybody tell me how many England caps Halley has racked up so far?
There has to be places for Gil Dudson as he is a born and bred Welshman with Super League experience.
I do not think ignoring people who put their hands up for Wales is going to help us in our maiden 4 nations. Getting drubbed by huge points margins is not going to help the game in Wales and put bluntly the squad is not good enough. The players are hardly household names in Wales so I would put in some Aussies if that makes us more competitive and introduce more people as the quality improves. The best countries in the world bend the rules to suit in both codes and in this case Wales need to show promise in this tournament as three successive hammerings will not be beneficial to the Welsh lads that are in the squad.
I fully expect Harris to stubbornly soldier on with a low quality squad however and blame officials and hard luck for our short comings as that is what he has done at Crusaders to date. I'm looking forward to it but you pick the best team available.
