Makinson for 1 next year?
Sadly no. Wello is still no.1 and he is to be sole captain as well. Gardner has been re-signed for two years and so he'll be back on the wing instead of Makinson. I find that very disappointing as Makinson is real quality. He outshone a number of our senior players in the GF and in fact turned the game in our favour by chasing up his own grubber to score that rather amazing try. For our youngest and least experienced first team player to do that in front of a packed house in a final we had been losing I think shows a real talent and a great attitude. Personally I was deeply disappointed that the club re-signed Gardner even though he is better in terms of yards made on his kick returns (but not by as much as when Makinson started out). I guess Makinson will have to wait for injuries to happen. I can't see how else he will get first grade game time otherwise.

I genuinely don't see what all the fuss is about, he's an average player in a good side, no where near good enough for international football, Although he's a very good goal kicker and as for the Beckham of RL I'm speechless there's no similarity whatsoever.
He's an excellent goal kicker and also a good finisher. He's nippy too. But he is too skinny to be effective in goal line defence although he does try and his kick returns are useless for the same reason. As for him being 'the Beckham of RL' that is more to do with his Mr Cool image (hence 'baby Becks') which is fun as he is a very down to earth, nice young guy. However, he is very marketable especially among young women and kids of both genders, and that has to be a plus.
