I haven’t seen the game so I may be well off the mark here but a lot of you are banging on about attacking options such as:

Brough not playing.
Pickersgill loses his attack at 6.
Wings offer nothing.
Centres don’t offer anything.

My apologies but we’ve shipped 44 points? Surely it’s the defence that needs looking at? I understand we need to look after the ball but shipping 44 is alarming considering we’ve actually not had a bad defence since the Sheff game. Was it poor defence? Was it quality Fev attack? Was it an attitude problem?

Think we were exhausted towards the end. There were some poor missed tackles but Fev seem to have purple patches where they absolutely punish teams. I know I keep banging on about it but if we could have got to HT 14-0 down, we're still in that game, but DFJ knocked on on the 1st tackle and we survived it. We then got a penalty and instead of putting some pressure on them, Walker knocked on the first tackle as well.
Fev sensed blood and the entire team were steam rolling forward towards us. Doesn't matter how good at defending you are (which I think we are TBF) if you turn the ball over twice on the 1st tackle in back to back sets, to a team as good as Fev, you're going to be punished.

We just seemed to lose our heads and weren't prepared to go set for set with them. Too many players trying to do it all on things on their own.

We struggled across the line to stop metres after contact, particularly from Gale and Halton. The forwards were digging in and we had a score chalked off but when Evans went off injured after 10/15 minutes the ruck opened up and Jones cut us to bits. They had a bit of luck but the period up to half time when we went from 14-0 to 26-0 looked like exhaustion. Fev are a good side, big, strong, lots of support from Hall et al and few errors. Good sides who are winning the ruck always look fitter, but we were way down on energy and our heads dropped at times which will not please Kear. It looked like the natural display after the first half against Newcastle.

Pick to 6 didn't work, we lacked size and quality in the pack. Burton apart, the bench brought little energy and then Scurr was injured. Doyle spent all afternoon defending. Gallagher has gone backwards physically, Sam isn't back to speed. This is a big fortnight coming up for our season.

Losing all those players, the heat, playing the best side in the comp. This was always on the cards. Make a few errors and you're going to be severely punished and we were. It reminded me of the cup game in some ways.

Looks like we're in for a tough few weeks unless we can bring in a halfback for a decent period of time.

Bernard Dwyer hurled himself about with both biceps ruptured. I think Brough should just suck it up and get out there to help the lads. Big Softy.

Remember it well. Like a footballer running around with his arms by his side.

Scurr and Evans both come away unscathed after the Fev game. One minor positive.

i cant critisize nor pass judgement, just a listener ... but for me dual reg (back then),loan players for 2 weeks, cant be the way to go. gives rise to so much disruption. wot we faced against fev was 3 loanees going back a key palyer injured, reorganizing of the group (that has performed so well) into different positions then losing a player early so the bench was down to 3 and having just read the game comments others (forwards) also going off injured. just wasnt our day. fev also had key players out but like toulouse, still have quality. we could have had these conditions against lesser so called teams and maybe limped home, but it just had to be against one of the top runners of the championship

Just unlucky that we get key injuries and covid strikes causing us to lose our loan players both at the same time.

I don't like relying on loan players either but that's where the club is at the moment. All the more reason to bring on our own.

Disappointing performance without a doubt but I don’t think anyone realistically thought we would beat Fev. So overall if it had to happen against anyone, it might as well happen against one of the best teams in the league rather than a play off rival.

Keep concentrating on beating those around us and we will make the playoffs which most would have been happy with at the start of the season.

Desperately need some players back though

The talk in the main stand yesterday was that Joe Keyes is on his way.
