Genuinely think it's one of the best signings we've made for a long time.

How many games did we lose last year by a try or less. Saw the same early this year. Brough has the potential to make sure we come out on top of those tight games.

Really really pleased with this.

saw an article recently that if championship season doesn't restart then KR were going to recall Milnes and play him this year in SL. So doubt they'll be looking at loaning him out next year.

I agree that they're unlikely to loan him out next year though, I suspect (but obviously don't actually know) that Milnes loan this is year was probably part of the transfer deal to KR, so the option of a recall this season would most likely be a non-starter. If we didn't play though yeah, we'd just let him go.

I'm far from sure Milnes himself would want to return next season. He's made the decision that HKR is where his future lies and I'd guess he'll be more than ready to just crack on and prove himself at the higher level. Which I'm confident he'll do easily.

I think this is a great bit of business. The article today (https://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/ ... al/?ref=eb) says he's come to get us in Super League in two years which will be heaven for the conspiracy theorists over on the VT who think we have some sort of backdoor in to the top flight. Because getting it SL within 2 years seems fanciful to me. Well bonkers really.

This feels like exactly the sort of gig you take at the end of your career and then get into coaching at the same club. Brough as future Assistant coach anyone?

Depends what sort of money he's on but I'm not particularly pleased with this. Needs must though I suppose.
Danny Brough was a very good player. But the key word there is was. The quality has dropped off significantly in the last few seasons.

I know what you mean, but even if he's dropped off the SL pace, he surely hasn't carried on dropping to the point of not being decent for a mid-table Championship side.

Depends what the clubs aspirations are. If we're aiming for mid table then why sign him at all? He won't be cheap.
If we're genuinely aiming for top 4 or promotion them I'm afraid to say I don't think he's good enough.

Has been a very good player in SL and it`s probably a good move to drop down into the championship but we have a lot of younger players coming through and I just hope he doesn`t influence them with the shenanigans like where he was too pi$$ed to get on a plane with the Scotland squad. Otherwise I think he`s just the signing we need.

Decent signing for sure, especially as other have eluded to with the JK connection.

An added bonus too (I seem to remember his stats were OK) is goal kicking....how many games have we scored the same tries or even out tried them only to lose out on missed goals...

It's hard to say, to be honest.

He (presumably) is within budget and won't be expecting SL wages, in any case our budget has already been said to be not what it was, so if he comes within it, then fine. I think Brough is the kind of player his clubs' fans like and opponents like to wind up. Given his age and lower influence in SL games as he's got older, his bad behaviour and general mouthing off at referees has increased but he's going to be more effective in the slower paced championship so that, hopefully, shouldn't be too much of a problem. He'll kick some teams to death on a small pitch like the Tetley stadium, imo.

As for promotion...well, yeah right. I know all players want to be the best they can be and to win every game, and that clubs are always going to talk things up. Not believing you're in the promotion mix would be anathema to them, but I'm just a fan, so promotion... well, yeah right....
