The Positive Tendency : Tue Mar 24, 2009 10:09 am
It's struck me just how few posts/discussions there have been following the Bulls' great result in France. The contrast between this, and the flood of criticism, bile and cries for vengeance in earlier weeks is actually quite scary. Very few seem to have thought it worth bothering to post when the Bulls have done well, whereas had they lost, they couldn't wait to be on here calling for the heads of coach, players and board.

this by no means applies to everyone, of course (thankfully) but are these people actually fans, or just circling hyenas, who'll move on to scavenge elsewhere if the wounded prey gets back on its feet?

I too was surprised by the lack of negative posts, given the fact that the GREAT win seemed to be a fortunate one, given the fact that Catlans had three tries chalked off in the second half?

Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.

The more restrained criticism came on the back of a few poor performances, including one that was frighteningly bad. Just as it would be unreasonable to question the players and the coach after just one bad performance, its a bit early to think that everything in the garden is rosy.

And of course, very few Bulls fans witnessed the Catalans performance.

Wouldn't think anyone has any issue with ANY restrained criticism, debate or whatever, though.

:? . . . and who on earth remotely said or even hinted that it was?

A now very rare benign condition, historically common round these parts but nowdays only rarely encountered. Its precipitous decline is believed to be due to displacement by the much more aggressive and virulent "Negative Tendancy" - an unpleasant and depressing condition native to Leeds for many years, until temporarily displaced westwards by some unusually successful but probably short-lived recent activity there involving a treatment known as "Money". PT is understood to be transmitted via a vector known as "Winning", and is especially potent when encountered in its persistent and tenacious FA and AF strains. There have been tentative very recent signs of localised outbreaks of PT, which may be connected to some NT strains recently metamorphing into dormant state and the true nature of other strains becoming clear. However, given the persistence of NT and its stubborn resistance to the normal forms of treatment which are effective elsewhere, there remains as yet little more than anecdotal evidence that we will ever again see the condition become more widespread. The "OSV" treatment currently awaiting clinical trials is seen as the brightest hope, although a very large injection of "Money" could also prove effective.

It could just be that when young players die doing the sport they love it doesn't seem too important to criticize your team.
