''macca bullish ahead of playoffs''

and you are out at the first round

''macca: theres a whole lot more to come''

and you lose the first playoff game and are out

i think sometimes he does ''talk the talk'' but he certainly doesn't walk it.

I thought you were trying to change peoples opinions on McNamara.

I don't care if anyone changes their mind or not TBH and if anyone did because of what I say then they are surely a bit weak are they not? What I do believe though is that people will make their own minds up judged on what they see going on, and more people are starting to raise their own doubts about him.

af wrote:
TBH, Eddie, your posts come across a little like your mind was made up some time ago and now you're quite eager to be proved right.

My mind was clearly made up a long time ago. He should have been dumped after the Wigan embarrassment in 2007 but people have given their reasons why he should stay so let's see what he does about it. Look at the thread by "The Inquisitor" for example. A season of gripes, no improvement anywhere. In time I guess I will be proven right although he could prove us all wrong by turning around our fortunes in 2009. His latest recruitment is hardly installing a lot of confidence however, and these are sentiment echoed by numerous people on here.

af wrote:
This may very well be unfair, but your reaction to the undeniably reasonable observation that McClennan gets much more assistance from his predecessor's youth policy than McNamara did little to disprove it.

Because it comes across as yet another excuse to me. He may well have suffered but it still does not excuse his poor recruitment. If he did not think he could cope with the situaution at the start of his tenure then he should not look for any sympathy in being unable to deal with the situation. Also, it needs to be mentioned, in the interests of fairness that SM was part of his predecessors regime and surely had some sort of say in the matter?

It also does not help that there is a poster on this board, presumably acting as a mouthpiece for someone inside the ground that consistently slags off the youth players at the club (or ones that have been or will be released), which does make you wonder how much respect the youth is given at Bradford both now, and in the past. The Crossley issue (of which I am sure you are in the know about) also makes me question their interest in producing the youth players.

af wrote:
I realise that I've come across as a dogmatic supporter of Hood and SM this season, but I guess that's because my view is this - they are prepared to do their respective jobs. That's no small thing in the absence of qualified candidates of a similar disposition.

Fair comment. They will have supporters like they will have their detractors. They may well be prepared to do their respective jobs but it is a question of how well they are doing them that will encourage the debate.

af wrote:
but I think we need one SM for/against thread, and then those who wish to avoid it can do so easily.

Yeah - I agree.

Isn't it about time we had a poll on McBanana, to find out what everyone really thinks about hime? Now that the season is over and the memory of defeat is waning will allow people to be objective 8)

Personally he's had his ups and downs not least in the treatment of the likes of Nero and Finnigan. But Im actually queitly impressed about our signings for next yaer. There is no burden of expectation unlike at clubs like Wigan and Warringting and I think we could suprise a few people.

There is still time to add more verses to the McBanana 8) :ASS: :P
