yes it is a shame, but jimmy makes it clear that he wants a specific style of half back, so its game plan before personalities, and theres a couple of targets, that presumably fit the bill.
Yeah, I can see why it might be thought a bit heavy handed, but I've always considered that, to provide the best service, the halves really ought to be, more or less, a unit and they have to fit together with skills which complement each other. So one will, [say] be the stronger playmaker and the other the better backer-up. At the end of the day, the last thing any team needs is two players trying to play the same role and getting under each others' feet.
Fair enough, it would be great if all players had every skill in equal measure, but you rarely get those sort of ideals even in SL so you're not going to get it in the championship and I feel Jimmy is correct in looking to get the right mix for the side. That said, it does come down to who is available and I guess that no team's recruitment ever goes totally to plan and as the weeks go by the options will tend to become fewer. Then, of course, Sod's law states that the ideal bloke you really, really wanted suddenly becomes available...just after you've committed the last of your funds..
So am I suggesting we should keep a bit of a contingency fund? Well, yeah I guess I am.
