I think you're underplaying that a bit.
Coaches seem to be signed to season, or multi season, contracts just like players and are far from being like an office worker or workman. I guess the same rationale applies, as it does to players [that there is little point in keeping someone who doesn't want to be there] but the clubs, like the coaches, are entitled to have their contracted employees see out their contracts or be compensated.
It's true the coach may have some wording in his contract [the old - if an SL club comes in for me, clause] which may even deny the right to be compensated, but we are definitely in the land of, 'who knows', over things like that.
