Agree with the vast majority on here that a one year sit out and start at the bottom would be the most sustainable way forward for (semi) pro RL in Bradford. But at the moment the people making the decisions are the RFL and as I see it they have two main objectives;
1) fulfill fixtures 2) get out of their odsall lease as it's now a liability with no sub tenant
With the councils buy in for development the best way for RFL to fulfil the above objectives would be to sell odsal to a developer at market value less the cost of fielding a semi pro league team for a year.
The thing that terrifies me about the above is that a developer couldn't give a t0ss about 'Bradford Phoenix' and will happily run it on a shoestring, see them get walloped week in week out, relegated and then sell the club for a quid at the end of the season.
Whilst this gets us to the exact same place as starting 2018 in C1 it will see a further season of fans leaving the club as no one wants to watch their team get mullered week in week out.
FWIW an alternative for the RFL to the above could be to form a barbarians team full of loans and lads playing for contracts - only have to play every other week, don't need home games, and points don't count to the league just exhibition games. Blue sky thinking I know, just trying to think of a scenario other than not winning a game all year.
I for one was absolutely gutted when you went into Liquidation as my previous posts will prove, but reading this latest thread, you Bradford supporters want your cake and eat it, you are very very lucky the RFL haven't said to you, Bradford Bulls no longer exists, if you wish to apply for membership you will start in the National Conference Division Three and work your way back, why should you go in Championship 1 you as a club don't exist, to whinge about being in the Championship with minus 12 points is a joke,the RFL have bent over backwards to help you even in 1962 when you again went into liquidation, as i have said before there is a lot of goodwill towards the Bulls within the Rugby community, this whinging and moaning means it won't last very long.

What part of RAB90's "a one year sit out and start at the bottom would be the most sustainable way forward" don't you understand? Most fans want to start in League One because it has a chance of making the new club stable from the outset which means we won't be sat here in another year's time raking over yet another administration. For "whinging and moaning" read REALISM.

A lot longer than my goodwill for you that's for certain. You live in a bizarre world where starting on minus 12 and with no players is somehow a favour. None of us agree. I'd much rather we reform in the championship 1 in 2018, and leave you holier than thou sods to worry about the fixture list in 2017 and with no ammunition for your eccentric claims of preferential treatment.

I think you need to read some of the posts mate. I think you'll find no Bradford fan wants or expects a free ride. What they are saying is relegation from Championship 1 is possibly better than not being relegated but having a 12 point deduction.

Just like Toulouse, Toronto, Oxford, Coventry, Hemel, Newcastle, South Wales, North Wales.
You really think being in Championship -12 points with no team is doing us a favour.

I'm not sure anyone cares about league position for any reason other than future stability/viability of the club. The best case scenario that I foresee at present is never winning anything ever again, and struggling along in Champ 1 with occasional shortlived forays into the championship. At the moment I'd take that quite happily.
As for starting in NCL 3, the same point applies. It'd kill pro-RL in Bradford permanently. If that is the aim, then fine, but it is disingenuous to suggest otherwise. Frankly, I'm amazed at the number of people who can cope with the cognitive dissonance resulting from holding 'I am sad for Bradford and Rugby League about the Bulls being liquidated and want to see them thrive again' and 'Bradford must be punished and be grateful for it!'.

Why should you be in the Championship 1 that is not the lowest league on the pyramid, i am honestly really gutted this has happened honestly,but what i was trying to say was if the RFL had acted as if you are a totally new club (which you are) you should start at the VERY bottom, I personally wish you all the luck in the World, i actually want you back in Super League asap.

A number of clubs in League 1 were fresh formed and went straight into there without the need to go up through other divisions. Clubs with much less history and more to the point, much less community clubs that feed into them. The whole point about sustaining Pro RL in Bradford is to do with the amount of players that have come through the system in the local area, which the RFL don't want to lose. And understandably considering how many of the recent England squad came via that route.
It's not about "doing favours for Bradford Bulls", it's about the local area and what a pro RL club in the Bradford area offers the sport.
