Todays game. The first half we were not at the races and I thought to myself that Oscar Thomas isn't a bad player after all. Then the doing they must have got at half time seemed to spark them in to action and we ran away with it the end as they tired. It was nice to see a win at Odsal and not go home playing hell about the performance, I think we've got 5 games left now 2 at home and 3 away so not long to put us out of our misery !!
I really don't understand what it is that can be said to a team by the coach at half time, to make them perform better in the 2nd like we did.
Okay, I get that the coach can give a few tactical tips; advise on where he sees weakness in his team and where the opposing team is looking strong; give 'em the hairdryer treatment, etc, and these will make a difference, I'm sure, to the 2nd half performance.
But to play like they did in the 1st half ( 6-8 down ), and then to come out and smash Worky to bits in the 2nd ( 42 - 10 ) just doesn't make sense to me. Yes, I know it happens in sport, and that teams do tire once the opposition get going. But yesterday they just looked like a team that couldn't be ara$$ed in the 1st, and that said "look what we can really do
when we want" in the 2nd.
I know there'll be plenty of supporters joyful at the result, but it doesn't change anything for me. There's something not right in the camp, and whatever it might be needs identifying and eradicating quickly IMHO.
Oh, and the sun must have got to a few yesterday, coming out with insane comments such as "Oscar Thomas isn't a bad player after all" LOL
