By far the most sensible posts on this thread have come from mystic eddie. - copyright Ewwenorfolk 09.04.2013

Aye, and Eddie is hinting at it too. And, as we all know:

Not in the least. IIRC RER has never fully sung from your hymn sheet. True, he may have agreed with certain points but has also agreed with others.

I think its a tad unfair of you to drag him into your "fan Club". I have no doubt that RER is, probably more than most, his own man, and if he wants to be in your, as you put it, "fan club" he'd be the first to say so.
:? Are you just making things up? I have never claimed that rer is a member of my fan club so i dunno what you are on about. I accept in the post you quoted i meant to use the word 'dismay' as opposed to the word 'display' but it was a typo.

If I read ME right he means as much as it would dismay the "fan Club", IE the McNamara, positive, camp... as opposed to the other camp occupied by ME, RER and a growing?? list of dissidents . :wink:

Are RAB posters split into four groups now?;

1. Fan Club - generally positve and backing McNamara for now
2. Undicided - does what it says on the tin
3. Negative Tendancies - generally opposed to McNamara and wanting change now.
4. Couldn't care less, just find it all fun to read from the touchlines!

I reckon we could put all posting members on this forum into one of these categories having read the board from the end of last season to now. (if not from long before that with certain individuals... :wink: )

Put me down for category 4 would you please?

I just wish we had a forum like this in the 70's, 80's & early 90's when we invariably were no hopers and signing players like Terry Holmes.

It really would have been funny and worth reading all the wasted angst and irrelevant frustration back then.

I sort of did that too, by implication, with my response to Red's post earlier.

Sorry Red, you didn't deserve that. :oops:

:D consider it done. I suspect the silent majority of people who read but dont post would make category 4 the largest group!

and a late 80's early 90's forum for Bradford would have been great, with topic headers like;
"Do you think we'll get as many as 5000 at home to Whitehaven this Sunday?"
"will it p!ss it down or just be foggy and cold as usual?"
"what do we think of the half time entertainment of watching the grass grow and seeing the groundsmen prod the pitch with a fork? - should they do it to music?"
"Will the latest Odsal redevelopment finally go ahead this time??"
"Will we keep the score respectable this time at Central Park?"

and the old favourite"Is Macca the right man for the job?".... or is that topic not actually that long running yet? :THINK:

Too right. Can you imagine what this lot would've made of the Barry Seabourne era? :lol:

Yeah.

"Too slow to play scrum half"

"One dimensional with the boot"

Oh, hang on........................?!

I would have personally loved to have been able to read the vitriol against Peter Fox and HIS recruitment strategy. And then all the backsliding when he stuffed it up them by spawning back to back Championships in 79 & 80.

Even comparing something inconsequential like a court of law to something deadly serious like a messageboard is a pretty outrageous thing to do.

All of that!

Best half time entertainment though was watching the players eat their half time oranges whilst trying to catch their breath and straining to listen to the advice of the coaches whose voices were drowned out by a howling gale.

Oh yeah. And the after match entertainment of verbally abusing Fred Lindop (the Ganson of the day) on his long walk back to the dressing room.

But, try telling them that these days and they won't believe you.

They don't know they're born!

It would have been good.

Unfortunately, generally speaking, people seem to have lost the ability to laugh at themselves nowadays, and the black humour that was a common characteristic has been replaced by an omnipresent preciousness.
