it also says York think brown is worth £x and we don’t. Doesn’t make either right at the moment. As well as Brown has done if Gill comes in from Newcastle for him I’d take that

Remember the exact same thing being said last year when York outbid us for Adam Cuthberston. York were signing former man of Steel contenders while we'd signed some unknown from L1 called Brad England was the cries I remember. Think we know which player we'd all rather have.

Similar with Pickersgill, Brown is a player I'd like to keep. He's improved massively and at 22, will only improve further. That being said he's not "a must keep" without seeing the numbers of what players have been offered it's hard to make a full judgement.

There's a few players I'd want to keep ahead of Brown.

Many would argue Kieran Gill is an improvement on Brown.

Yeh, it's tough to comment until we know who the club is looking to sign. The league table doesn't lie and it shows we are some distance behind the likes of Fev/Toulouse. Clearly some players will depart to free up space to bring in new ones. So will have to reserve judgement for now.

I mentioned after we played Thunder I would love us to sign Gill. I would take him before Brown all day. His scoring record speaks for itself.

But both Fax and York are in a better position financially so why would it be a major concern you are getting outbid for players?

I think it's an overreaction from some fans
Bulls Wingers next year
Matty Dawson-Jones
David Foggin-johnston
Elliott Kear
Reece Hamlett
Jack Sanderson
Bringing In Kieran Gill pushes Brown further down the pecking order.
Rumours of Matty Marsh at Fullback, Kear can cover FB so Brown would be 2nd/3rd choice.

I reckon it's likely he will start at York who will offer him a salary to match this.

I think he made it fairly clear within his post? The club has continually spoke of building towards assembling a side challenging for promotion.

However spending big doesn’t automatic translate into a successful season as we have seen with York this year.

Well, it's pretty much that. If we are serious about building towards Super League (I don't think we are, but that doesn't mean the club isn't peddling that line) then we shouldn't be getting outbid or be in a worse financial position than (with all due respect blah blah) Halifax and York.

Looking at next season, there'll be a cashed-up Leigh, either Featherstone or Toulouse, also pretty cashed up. Then there's the rest scrabbling for the other play-off spots. It looks like we could end up grabbing the shirt tails of Halifax, York, even Newcastle (who are apparently going Full Time and spending money like it's going out of fashion).

If that's where we are these days then fair enough. Just stop with the 'we are going for SL' narrative.

Anyeay, I suppose we'll have a better idea when the squads take shape

Judging from our accounts we are not in a bad position ourselves hence why we are making the signings we are for next season. I would imagine Bradford also did pretty well out of Covid but as Ive said before I just don't see Bradford been in a great financial position while they still play out of Odsal. You also have to remember that both York and Fax feel like they are in a position to be building towards SL.

Fax, Fev and I think York all have established squad builder operations which currently I think will have more members than ours has. If we can grow this side of the support this helps bridge the gap between our likely budget and theirs giving us a better chance to compete
