When my club didn't exist it was still bigger than yours

I think it's reasonable to assume that fans would. How we expect each other to behave in any given situation is a different matter.

I do think it's reasonable to expect people to know the difference between what's counterproductive and what's not though.

I have a definition for paying money to be counterproductive.

I think the issue is not to start with any preconceptions? You start on the basis that something like that is not going to happen, so you cheer the team out and on, and you don't start booing without reason.

I think though that even the most devoted club sycophant would understand the probable fans' reaction if we saw another collapsathon after building up a big lead?

The other thing is that the team's confidence must be pretty bloody fragile right now. Their heads will surely be screwed up with worry about it all happening again - and that could become a self-fulfilling prophecy especially if fans start getting on their backs at the first sign of trouble.

It seems to me the team will have far more chance of winning if the fans get behind them and try to boost their confidence. But maybe I'm just being simplistic and naive?

Yeah I know but lets hang on to our imaginary scenarios as long as possible. When they throw away the lead for the third time on the trot, that's when you can get carried away!

I'd never boo with out reason. I enquired about "the situation" as the impression i got from the original post is to back them no matter whats happening.

I think your sig sums up the circumstances when it would probably be all bets off.

But its not going to happen. There will be no third collapsathon. We HAVE to go into the game believing that. The team have to believe in themselves, and to help them with that we have to believe in them and not immediately pounce on any mistakes with "here we go..."

And I'd say get off Platt's back. Making him the scapegoat is a frigging disgrace. Another self-fulfilling prophecy: wreck the guy's confidence and then complain at his performance. (hard I know when he does a brain fart...)

But lets try and catch them doing things right for a change? It might even make a difference.

Sorry but I'm now in the mode that they have to make me start believing in them again.

I know. Tell me about it :(

But if we stop believing, how can we expect them to believe in themselves?
